Hello!

My son, Ben will hopefully be graduating Oct. 6. I've heard that some hotels offer a shuttle to and from the PIR on graduation day. Does anyone know which ones?

Thanks! So glad to have found this site!!!!

i am staying at the Navy Lodge, do they offer shuttle service for PIR ? Our PIR will be next week Sept.29th

I was told the Navy Lodge does offer a shuttle

Candlewood Suites Waukegan/Chicago offers a free shuttle service. Also, their rates are pretty great, too. About $80 a night.

A lot of the Hotels offer shuttle just make sure when you sign in that you let them know you need shuttle they usually start at 6:00 or 6:15. and also Ladies let them know you have a SR Graduating they will in return decorate your hotel door for your SR it is really a big surprise for them. I stayed at the Residence Inn but there were four Adults, you may come to find that your SR will be really tired and may want to just kick back and eat and rest. so make sure you take lounge clothes for him, he can change as long as he stays in Hotel. I liked the fact we had a living room and a full kitchen saved on going out to eat. Friday after graduation we had dinner at a restraint called Stevens very nice steak and Seafood restaurant, after that he wanted to go back and relax. Sat. morning me and my daughter made his favorites for breakfast and he was able to lounge around. Hope this gives some Ideas.

Would you recommend shuttle instead of driving to RTC?

Hi Holly, you know it really is up to you, cars start lining up around 5:30am, when we took the shuttle they picked us up at 6:15, but you have to let the front office know when you check in. we got there in 10 min. after PIR the Sailors go back to their Barracks and pack up that's if they stay at great Lakes, then get shuttled to the A school. so we picked up our Son around 2:30 at the main entrance next to the museum. when PIR was over we called our guy and he came right away for us. But we did rent a car also. shuttle is 4 bucks a person to and from. The people that drove said they had no problem, and also I would check the weather, you don't want to be standing in the rain and its very cold in the morning. I put info on boot camp for moms how to get around the tolls, not once did we have a problem. Hope this helps.

Yes, it helps. Thank you very much! You have been very helpful!

Good morning Ladies hope you all had a great weekend! skyped with my son yesterday, so good to see his face. Looks like You PIR'S are getting closer. So happy and excited for you all. Everything will be perfect No Worries. we rented a car for the purpose of getting around, it worked out really well and we had no problems with the tolls we actually were able to get around them. what I seen was the tolls were a way of beating traffic, but actually that side of the freeway was just as bad. so you can avoid them. Hope you Ladies have a wonderful day!

Is there a charge for parking in the RTC garage?
BTW, thank you for the information.

no I don't believe so, when you get into the gate just follow to garage.

Thank you. I hope you're having a great day!
Waiting to hear from my recruit Re BS21. I heard Div 344 had yesterday. no news is good news?
