Hi everyone. My son left for boot camp today, my first child to leave home! He is probably just at the airport in Chicago. I have no idea what to do or when to expect that short phone call. I am just nervous for him I guess.

Welcome Angella!!! Hang in there mama! You should get a call once he gets there that lasts as bout CDC30 seconds to let you know he arrived. From there... stay busy and ask questions in this group!
I will, thank you so much for the support. I feel totally lost. I can't imagine not having him here every day. My 14 yr old can't wait to join the army, so hopefully I will handle his time to leave, better because I am a hot mess with this one.
My son left on 3/20 and we received I am here I am safe .... call on 3/20 9:30pm our California time. Keep your cell phone if that’s the phone you told him to call you on by you all the time until you see him at PIR. Our son just called yesterday for some additional information so we got lucky we spoke to him for about two minutes. Let him speak it’s script and you can tell him you love him at the end because that all the time you will have. Good luck First Timer
He just landed in Chicago and called me. I am trying to savor the extra call!!

Seems like I can't go an hour without crying. I feel like I am going crazy or something! I am keeping my phone charged and drinking lots of coffee because everyone says he will probably call on the middle of the night and I don't want to chance missing it. Thank you for your support!!

It was really late when I received my call and I slept with my phone, I know the feeling you are feeling, I was a hot mess myself when I went thru this. I cried all the time my Husband didnt know what to do, my supervisor didnt know what to do because I cried a work too, anyone mentioned my son I cried. It took me a long while to join this Group, I was afraid they would think I am crazy, but it really came down that all the Mothers were feeling the same and how I was feeling was actually Normal.
