Yes, novice naval aviator. I thinks that's what my son wants to do.
Thats is what they called the new pilots on Carrier :) They are the ones with the least experiance !
Okay Molly you get the prize, lol. This is what my son wants to do but he has to get his college degree first in order to go into this.
Ohhh Mari ........that is what my dad did. Wish your son the best of luck for me.
Did you happen to watch carrier ? they really showed a lot about the pilots :)
Yes Molly, it was a wonderful program. They showed so much about Navy life on a carrier. My son told us he eventually wants to be a pilot. Is your son also a pilot?
Oh he wishes ........ he talked to Annapolis when he was a Junior ( they wanted him to wrestle for them ) He tried but didnt get the Psat score on math that he needed to get in, and he didnt want the NROTC. ( I personally think these were mistakes ) But that is a whole other story :(
Anyway he has bad eyes......though Annapolis reps did say that the Navy would do laser eye surgery for him. BUT they would automatically disqualify him if he had it done outside the navy. Something about when it comes to pilots they want to KNOW what is /was wrong with the eyes. This was 3 years ago so things may have changed since then. I will hold a good thought for your son ..... it was my sons dream to be a pilot, I really want to see someone I know get it :)
Is your son NROTC or Annapolis right now ?
Oooh - oooh . . . what does she win?
first deployment
Nope...my son leaves for GL tomorrow. He's some kind of surface mechanic.

tina
Woo-hoo I was correct :)
Officially
Nugget: Juniormost pilots or NFO's in a squadron who are fresh out of the "RAG" (see below).

RAG: Replacement Air Group, now officially called the FRS (Fleet Replacement Squadron), although the former is still widely used. This is basically graduate level flight school, where a newly winged aviator goes to learn how to fly and fight in his much more advanced fleet aircraft.
I only tried because I thought that you were offline.
LOL I was BUT boy howdy I scambled when I saw this !!
LOL you knew I would
