Molly's special hugs are headed for a medical clinic in Kuwait! This is kind of like a MASH unit. Guys and gals pass through this clinic for medical care! So our mission this month is two fold- take care of the wonderful staff that puts themselves on the line every day and send some mom love to those wounded warriors coming through the clinic on their way to Iraq and Afghanistan.

Our contact, a Navy nurse says "We get along well in our unit for being strangers to each other, but that is the beauty of being in the military you adapt and overcome. We do that together. We are here to help out the Army medically and we are getting used to their differences. I am glad I was chosen to come here, but I look forward to going home as well. I have 3 boys at home, ages 13, 3, and 1. They are being taken care of by my husband and mother. You can't imagine how much I miss and need them."

So our mission
For the staff- A unit of 20 men and 10 women, some single, some married with children. The women have requested tampons, pads, liners, body sprays, lotions and powders, and finger nail polish (no bright colors). The men have received some packages but would like deodorants and foot powders and such. They do have microwaves so think of fun snacks! They have also requested individual drink mixes! These wonderful caretakers share what they have with those passing through so lets shower them with love!

For the patients- what is better than a note from someone who cares? When you are hurt and far from home a few kind words mean so very much! So lets stock this clinic with cards and letter that they can hand to those brave injured warriors! Along with those wonderful notes, let's send trial size lotions, eye drops, toothpaste and toothbrushes and more! The wounded warriors passing through can pick up what they need and slip it into their pocket with that precious note from home! This clinic serves 40 or more injured in a normal day.

We want to ship our packages from October 24th to October 30th!

My girlfriend teaches 3rd grade. She was going to have my son be her class pen pal...since that isn't in the cards anymore, I am going to ask her to have her class make cards for this project...is that ok?
valeriejean, that sounds awesome. Most troops love to receive cards and letters from children.
Every year I always have a few leftover cards, my desk drawer is full of them. Would love to find a good use for them. If we send Christmas cards for them to send will they get there in time for them to use them?

Maybe some small bunches of generic/birthday/valentine cards for them to use while they are over there would be nice also. If they were wrapped in a piece of pretty paper with a ribbon inside a ziploc bag with a label on the outside explaining what they were they could grab a letter and grab a bag of cards to use during their deployment. That would be good for the injured also.
They will absolutely have the cards in time for Christmas mailing! Mail takes about 10-14 days to arrive right now... How do I know??? I sent a test package!
I would like to send some cards and letters. I just need some place to send them. Does anyone know where I can send then to and who. I want to support our troops. Thank you. Laura
Laura ---up top on the discussion there is a link to the room (you need to join the room) BUT in there we post the address to this months Adoptees :)

Thank you Laura, thank you so much
if you add me as a friend and pm me a personal email address, I have a bunch of names from several branches of the military. Men/women who don't get mail.
Hey all you wonderful moms!!! I have started writing cards... I hope to write two or three each day... that way by mailing day I should have a box full to send! If you have never written a note before or are having trouble getting started here are some ideas....

Thank you for your service! I am a Navy mom from ______. I have a sailor serving our country! They are stationed in/ deployed to/ in bootcamp and due to PIR on....

Today was a day of beautiful sunshine. When I walked the dog I was admiring the leaves turning colors on the trees and thought of all of those in the military not home to enjoy such a crisp day. Thank you for all you do to make our country free...

Heard a great song on the radio today. Have you heard this one?

More than anything our guys and gals just need a cheery word, a note of thanks, a word from home. It is what they are missing and long for. It is what they are working to protect.

I am so proud of each of you that put yourself on the line and open yourself up to each of these brave warriors!
OH and Susan ---I made you admin of the We ship love room, and took Marlo off. Figuring each mom could monitor emails and allow the new members in :) Just FYI for you
I will take you off and put the new mom next month ---seems to work good that way. (thanks for the test run Marlo--you did great)
I always will monitor also so your not all alone :)
HUGS
Will do!
Susan -
