For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed. Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.
**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.
**UPDATE 7/29/2021** You now must be fully vaccinated in order to attend PIR:
In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

Please note! Changes to this guide happened in October 2017. Tickets are now issued for all guests, and all guests must have a ticket to enter base. A separate parking pass is no longer needed to drive on to base for parking.

Handicap access at PIR?
Even if we had a car they could not walk from the parking lot to the PIR itself.
What kind of accommodations (if any) are there for disabled persons to get from the gate to the PIR building, and is there accessible seating for them at PIR itself?

hm - I would think they would HAVE to be in a wheelchair to get to and fro easily ( no little shuttle train if that is what you are asking). There are a few chairs in front of the bleachers for handicapped.

Exactly right, they have wheelchair seating on the floor in front of the bleachers. I would ask them if they would consider using one for this occassions but again you would have to rent them then I assume. It will be a lot of walking at the PIR, you might want to reconsider and just tell them they can watch the video. When is your PIR, it is bitter cold there now as it is.

It's not until Feb 19, so we have time. My grandfather, a WWII veteran, would be devastated to not be at the ceremony after traveling 2,500 miles, and his pride won't let him use the wheelchair.

Hi Hoppi, the PAO office has contacted me already (one of them saw this thread) and we are working on arrangements. They have been *incredible*, they offered my grandfather an amazing honor, VIP passes for him and my grandmother, to be seated on the dais, with (handicap accessible) parking just outside. Wow. *faint*
Our only problem now is to decide who accompanies my grandfather on the dais. For him it is an honor, he's a bona-fide war hero. None of us feel worthy of being there.

you have to walk, i think, it was a couple of blocks from where you checkin to where PIR gets held..........its quite a distance for someone that would have a hard time walking, especially because most of it is outside.

JUST HOW FAR IS IT FROM THE HANDICAP PARKING AREA TO THE PIR BUILDING? I'VE GOT OSTEOARTHIRITS IN MY LOWER BACK AND MY WALKING DISTANCE IS LIMITED
