What a day.  We took our son to the recruiters office  at 0930 today (March 1).  From there he will go to Denver today to MEPS and leave for GL 3/2.  He will be going into the SWCC program.  Is there anyone else out there with me?    Today was an emotional one...I am so proud of him for the path he has chosen and I am so proud of myself for having raised such a wonderful young man.  The next 12 weeks will be lonely, although I am already excited to see the transformation he makes from a young man to a 'Sailor.'  My only unanswered concern at this time is....At PIR, it is my understanding that there are only 4 seats available for his family.  Can anyone elaborate on this for me.  Thank you and good luck to all of you out there.

Tony's recruiter does not have his address yet--he said to call him back by Monday and hopefully he will have it.
i was hoping the "kid in a box" would arrive today so the process feels like it is at least moving forward but no luck--maybe tomorrow!
I took 10 mg melatonin last night and finally got some needed sleep!

How is everyone else sleeping?
I did get an adress today...what a boost. We are in ship 004 div 810..and the first letter went in the mail today. Now I am attempting to get the PIR date, however all of the links I have found are not taking me to the site.
I am not struggling too much with sleep, I wake up more than often , but it is not an issue. I would say that it is the only time that I am not on the verge of tears. Hang in there
We are from Middle Tennessee. We received "the box" today. Just smelling her scent from her clothes does a number on your emotions. Not sure how this gets easier, but know it has to. We did get an address from the recruiter today, my daughter is in ship 06 division 924, will be sending the first letters to her tomorrow!
That is encouraging that the boxes should be on the way. Have you had any luck tracking down a PIR date yet, or does the letter have that info?
I was told the letter has the info with the PIR etc.
See--I should have asked the recruiter today for the address I bet he would have had it, now I have to wait till Monday--argh!

I went to the mall tonight and was looking at all the kids all joking and happy and together and even tho I have lots of other kids at home (Tony is the oldest of 5) it made me feel lonely with knowing he is gone and all--weird I know.
I want to thank you all because you are the only people who really get it as well as the only people I speak openly about it to as well.
I too still have other kids at home(3) but feel incredibly empty right now. Extended family keeps telling me "it's time to cut the apron strings" or other such comments. I think what makes it so hard is the total lack of contact. When most kids move out for college, work, etc.. you can still call or text whenever the mood strikes.

I am a couple of days behind you all. My son was suppose to leave the 2nd but had a delay in San Diego at MEPS(unknown what the delay was) and just arrived at Great Lakes yesterday.

Already wrote 2 letters, but no address to mail them yet.

I have to say although I had a few weepy moments today, overall I am coping much better than yesterday. Of course that could all change when I get "The Box."

This site has been great as I have a pretty good idea of what to expect and when(the quickie call, the box, the form letter) and a basic idea of what he's doing each week and lots of support from others who are going through the same rollercoaster of emotions and can truly understand. I am extremely thankful for that!
YES!! My husband literally said to me to cut the apron strings already!! I can't sit and cry with the kids because it is not their job to comfort me of course.
Very empty feeling, thank you for validating me in that! {{{HUGS}}}
My husband if understanding about my emotions, however I think he is happy that this site is available fo us all. (If you know what I mean) I still have a daughter at home, she will graduate this year then on to college, man will that be easier than this.
I have learned so much since I joined N4M. I am so appreciative.
Wyoming Mom

Our son is also in Ship 4 Div 810. He is also going special operations, however as a diver. Since your son is SWCC I thinking Div 810 might be for special operations.
I have not been on this thread since our son shipped on March 1, (there is another thread for March 1) but we got the form letter on Saturday and the graduation date is April 23rd. We are in the Upper Midwest, so I suspect we will get mail a day or two earlier than you.

BTW, Where are you in Wyoming? Our son spent the last three winters training at the Winter Sports Club in SS, CO. (Almost Wyoming)
Also, out son's letter indicated that the division is small so there may be more than 4 seats available for PIR. I noticed that you had asked a question on numbers in your first post.
As of Monday a.m. still no box. But you all have to remeber that we are in Wyoming and still receive our mail via Pony Express. LOL
I was assuming that they would have the divisions broke up according to the future plans of each sailor....meaning that 810 would be only special ops.
Thanks for the information. Please keep in touch. {{HUGS}}
