If she arrives at GL tomorrow, what are the chances of graduation being delayed because of the 4th of July?  9 weeks would be July 2nd.  I've gotten so much conflicting information about how long boot camp is, some say 8 weeks, others say 9......

How soon will I know?
Like Lady H said, it's hard to predict what date recruits will PIR. She may have been the last to fill in an almost complete division from the week before, or will be the first to enter a new division and be a week behind those with whom she arrived. Her most likely PIR dates are June 25 and July 2, but July 9 is also possible.

You can probably call your daughter's recruiter to get her division number and maybe her PIR date tomorrow. Sometimes they have them that fast.
Hi my son left for GL on the 26th arriving on the 27th.. I am a mess.. I keep crying and I feel like a lunatic. Eveyone acts like I am crazy for crying all the time. I want to go into a medically induced coma for 8 weeks.. : ) My heart hurts and I miss his presence every night when I get home. I never realized letting go would be this tough... I hate this... He was so excited to go it's not like it's a prison sentence. But for now all I want to do is walk through my emotions and cry when I want to without feeling like I shouldnt be allowed to... I am just so thankful for this web-site... I have women who can feel and understand my pain... I am sure our kids will graduate the same time... And we will be so proud...
I feel the same way about my daughter and that everyone around me thinks heyyy no big deal she will be fine, but she is my first born and a girly girly so I worry about her and I'm not there to protect her, I'm supposed to suspend her phone service but I'm having a hard time doing it its like I'm connected to her, through her phone, sounds silly? I feel like I sent her to prison just she's getting paid:( I know its going to make her a strong person and she will have a future its just she turns 20 may 9th and this will be the first time in her life we have been seperated for more than 2 days:( I feel your pain
Autumnsmom..my daughter just recently finished BC, it was hard also but at least she was away at college for 1 year so I got used to her being away..my thinking is that she will defnitely be a better person when she comes out--my daughter looked absolutely wonderful at the graduation all dressed up and smiling!! that is when I cried alot, when I saw her..
try to keep busy..try not to worry about her..when you get her letters, you will feel sooooo much better knowing that she is doing well..they all get through it and you too will get through it! and God Bless your daughter for doing this!!
annafornavy.....I was in your shoes just 5 short weeks ago. Trust me, it does get better. When you get the kid in the box, you may have mixed emotions. For some reason, I did real good with that. When the form letter with their address arrives and a few short sentences from your child, you will do the "letter dance". Oh, and that first phone call 3 weeks in (my daughter's division didn't get a 3 week call, it was 4 weeks), you will jumpt for joy like you never have before. Whatever day you get your letters from your son, you will hunt down the mailman. My day is Thursdays, and my letter this week was 6 pages long. My daughter is doing "hell week" this week and if they do well, they will get Tuesday and Thursday writing privileges. They say that after hell week, the time just flies by. In just 3 short weeks, I will be at PIR and I am so excited.

What you are feeling is normal. When you are sad, come to N4M. When you are happy, come to N4M. These ladies understand exactly how you are feeling and will lift your spirits. Make sure you join Boot Camp Moms and wait for the letter with the PIR date, and then join that group. It is wonderful because all of the Moms, Wifes, and Girlfriends post excerpt from their SR's letters and after reading them all, you get a great of idea of what is going.

Good luck and God Bless
Jess's Mom: Thank you so much for your words... As I sit here alone in the house tonight I thnk about Dustin.. Friday nights were our movie nights and just hanging together nights... I thank you for your encouragment... I cant wait for the letter dance and chasing the mail man myself instead of my dogs... : ) I call his cell phone every night just to hear his voice.. I dont have the heart to turn off his phone.. I am so excited for the nearness of your PIR date.. I called the recuriter last night to get Dustin's address and now I am hearing some recruiters gave wrong divison numbers.. How is that possible?? I sent letters out today for him. Will he still get my mail if the DIV is wrong??? Now I am worried... What does hell week consist of?? I watch this video everyday and pray for my baby boy to be fine.... It helps me so much... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_l09AJ9lXSE
annafornavy...if he, for some reason gets moved, he will eventually get the mail. it will catch up to him. I tried to reach my daughter's recruiter, but he was on vacation and the office here is just a satelite office, so while he was away, there wasn't anyone to get my call. For me, the form letter came somewhere in week 2 so i was panic stricken, but when it finally arrive, oh what a day. For some reason, just getting the form letter with her handwritten 4 lines, was enough to make me feel that she was doing just fine. I didn't like the fact that her division did not get their first call until 4 weeks, but I have learned that no news is good news. All of the ladies here kept reminding me of that.

Actually, I have heard that the recruits love hell week. According to my daughter, it's sunrise to sunset for 5 whole days, their 2nd big test, a lot of classes, and then preparation for Battlestations. Once hell week is over, they usually get Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday writing privileges. Then it just more PT, classes and waiting their turn for battlestations. That is make it or break it time. My dauthers division is doing battlestations the Sunday before PIR. Once they are done, you get the "I'm a Sailor" call which I hear is very emotional for both the recruits and the parents. Their last weeks is usually just practice for PIR and fun, fun, fun. The actually get to eat candy.

Make sure you join Boot Camp Moms until you get your PIR date, then make sure you join that group. Within that group, usually someone starts a group for your Ship and Division. Join that as soon as you get your form letter. JessicaBSailorsmom is absolutely great on all of those sites. She always checks in and picks everyone one up. She gives great advice too. On those sites there is great information about travel plans for PIR as well.

Good luck with everything and I hope to see you in Bootcamps moms.
Thank you Maggie - I appreciate knowing that.. I know there are alot of recruits at GL's and I was just worried they wouldnt take the time to try and re-route my letter's.. I just hearing him breath as he sat beside me on the couch sharing a blanket and watching a movie or ESPN... LOL

Once I pass through boot camp and I can actually talk to him more I wont be so crazy.. I dont think anyway... Your hugs and words wrap around me like my favorite coat... Have a blessed week...
Hi my son arrived at GL on the April 27 also. I recieved his box today. Big heart, tears all over again...I totally understand and feel the same pain that you are undergoing.
Hi Melanie - My son arrived at GL April 27th as well... I have not recieved Dustin's box yet.. I am dreading it.. I live 2 hours from Chicago so I thought I would recieve it rather soon.. Being this close to him brings me a little bit of comfort.. But not much... I want to look into his eyes and see if his spirit is broken.. He has such a tender heart, I worry about the breaking down period. Physically he is strong and healthy. He did the P90X program for the past 2 years and that really helped him with his endurance. I am proud, anxious, scared, uncertain, all these emotions are running through me and I have no idea how to manage them all at once.. All I know is I am so thankful for N4M. I think I would be a complete and utter disaster without it..

We will all grasp hands and march forward through this together...

Anna
