From San Francisco Bay Area Navy Families group and Northern California - Sacramento Navy Moms group, I know we have the following attending PIR in June:
June 4: Rebecca4, jakesmom, tallmama, christina_209 and crimedog1
June 25: NI39, Carl09, LindaA

Matilda, please join your (and mine) local group, so you can get the benefit of meeting others from CA attending PIR on the same date and get some tips from members who have been to PIR and have traveled from the West Coast. Just lick on this link and click "join". San Francisco Bay Area Navy Families
I am from Houston, TX
Thanks. That will help!
Boot camp is in Great Lakes, not Chicago. Try entering Great Lakes Naval Training Center, Ill. and see what happens.
We stayed at the Residence Inn at Great Lakes. They really were good to us and offer a buffet breakfast and dinner to recruit families.
How far does the Residence Inn from the boot camp?
I have always been told that it will NOT appear on Google Maps/Mapquest. They are in Great Lakes, IL - you should be getting mail that from your son that will have hotel info in it - at least I did. They put together a package for graduating sailors that has the graduation information in it.
when did they send it to you?
Thanks for all who replied..well yea I meant in Great Lakes, not in Chicago..haha..Actually I looked at the navy website and they didn't post the address in there. They just put how to get there.. I am from Houston, TX. How far does Residence Inn from the boot camp?
Individual barracks addresses will not appear on Google Maps, but the general RTC will. Just Googlemap "RTC Great Lakes." The photo is old and inaccurate, there has been a lot of construction and destruction, many of those buildings are gone, and many have been built since it was taken.

Google's "A" marker is for the NTC, RTC is just across the street and the graduation hall (MCPON Hall) is at the B marker.

If your recruit is on ship 7, his address is

Ship 7 Div 205
3405 Sailor Drive
Great Lakes, IL 60088
yea I got his address from the letter he sent. Anyway, thanks for the help.
