It's so hard to keep track of everyone through all the different groups, since we know our recruits are together it would be nice if we could each write our names here, instead of just our profile names it would be easier to know who is who.  I don't know if we can list our recruits names on here or not. Anyone else know?
When we start getting letters it would be nice to share what our recruits are saying since they each will probably tell different things about how it's going at GL.  What do you think?

Ok, I guess I'm not changing the name, I can't figure out how to do it! lol So, ignore the post about changing the name. I feel like an idiot with this stuff! Thing is, I'm usually pretty computer savvy! lol You would never know it from here!
I got bad news when my son called yesterday. They had tested him for ADD before he was able to join and said everything was ok. But I guess they tested him again like mid last week and decided he does have it, and also found he has a knee problem.. so having either disqualifies him from doing Air Rescue or any other spec ops like he so wanted. AND, the thing he called about a week or so ago with his wisdom teeth/jaw thing.. he is having his wisdom teeth out tomorrow, Monday, and they are also going to check in to see what is going on with his jaw bone and do surgery or whatever is needed I guess. I couldn't really understand what he was saying was wrong and he was getting frustrated. They are also doing an MRI on his knee tomorrow also. I can't believe all this is happening to him. And I feel so bad for him as he was really wanting to do Air Rescue. He had originally considered doing other positions in spec ops, and now can't do any of them. He said he has to be in regular Navy now and may do something with construction welding. Not that regular Navy is a bad thing by any means, but you know how our son's doing the spec ops feel about doing them, and now to not be able to... He said he is fine, but I don't know if he was saying that for my benefit or for real. Anyway, bummer. But it is good they found the jaw and knee thing.
Hey everyone :) My Husband Tom is also in Ship 4 div 814 as a Air rescue swimmer. I recived a call from him yesterday and my first letter on tuesday. Tom told me that they can only write letters on sunday and send them out sunday as well. He also said that it took a week to recieve my first letter I sent out. Besides that he said that there group did well on there testing but not very well on there inspection test. Tom wasn't sure if they get to call tuesday because they have to do well on there upcoming test but, try and hang around the phone anyways. He says that bootcamp is easier then he thought besides the ton of studying and bookwork. He also said that he likes his bunk buddy by the name of P...t. from Flordia.. so all is well and he is pretty sure they get a week to come home but it may also be even longer :) I also just booked my plane ticket and hotel room at the Romada so I hope to see some of you there! - Laurel
We are staying at the Ramada too.. Our son Jarrod is in for AIRR also..I am sure your husband and him have meet!! Hopefully we will meet you on the 24th at the meet and greet.. Can't wait for graduation!! See ya later, Linda
I would love to join you at the meet and great on June 24 at the Ramada. My son Travis is in air rescue also and he called today to say all his shipmates are saying how their moms are meeting on Navy for Moms but not me. I keep trying but never seem to get a response.
Hi guys! I went to the Boot Camp forum.....haven't looked at it since last year. My youngest's PIR was Sept. 3. He is a rescue swimmer and still in school. He arrived in Pensacola on Sept. 9th. First he had Air Crew Candidacy School. Then Rescue Swimmer School (which was really tough but he made it!). And he's now in "A" School for the particular job he's assigned. Seeing all your postings, ahhh, brings back memories! Hang in there because it will soon be over and your loved ones will go their various ways to different schools AND communication is sooo much better! Good luck to all of you! (My son was in Ship 4 last year - that's what caught my eye!) Oh, and yes, join Moms of Aviation Rescue Swimmers. The experienced Moms have been my lifesaver and I intend to pay it forward! ~ Kerry
Thanks Kerry, I have a son who PIR 8/09 he too is air rescue. He is now in Pensacola in A school. His older brother is following in his footsteps. Even though I have been there before I am still very anxious.
Can't wait to learn all about the A school and Rescue swimmer school.. What it entails and just everything!! Feel free to add me as a friend and send off some emails if you want.. . Thanks, Linda
Good Morning-
I am so happy to find a place where I can get information and support. My son is on Ship 04 Div 814 and is also a rescue swimmer- PIR 6/25. He just turned 19 on Saturday. I did get a call on Friday from him- he's having a pretty rough time- he said he's really sick and they took out his wisdom teeth a day or two before. It broke my heart. I hope next time I hear from him he will be feeling better.
I just want to know more of what is going on in his life and what I can do to help.
Kathy
Hello! My son (who PIR'd last year) had his 18th birthday in boot camp.....I was really sad. And the actual day itself was on a Friday in the first 2 weeks where their mail was being held. Our whole family had sent a landslide of birthday cards but they weren't given to him.....he wrote me on the actual day and in his letter he said that he hadn't received any mail that day and maybe we had sent him some birthday cards?? WAAAAAH! But his next letter said oh my gosh he'd never seen so many cards.....

It's typical for ALL of them to be sick....they're all grouped in such close quarters. There's even a nickname for it.....which is Ricky Crud (not sure why it's called that.) So you take feeling sick AND having his teeth out and combine it with the stressors of Boot Camp......yuk, he's feeling a little down.... Write him write him write him every day.....even if it's just a silly card with only your name on it. Tell him this will all pass. Be prepared for that crud to follow them from boot camp.....my son has been in Pensacola since last September. Whenever a new wave of Booters (Sailors fresh from Boot Camp as they call them) arrive, they all catch it all over again. I periodically send him vitamins.....
Good Afternoon,
Thank-you for all of your encouragement!
I am now writing on a daily basis.
I was afraid to write too often ( smothering parent) - but I guess that's not possible.
I hope next time I hear from him he's feeling better. Really looking forward to 6/25.

Hi, My name is Penny and my son Travis is in ship 4 division 814 and graduates on 6/25/2010. He called today at around 2 PM. He sounds wonderful but he says all his shipmates are talking about how they're hearing that their moms are friends on Navy for Moms. I am trying to make friends but never seem to hear back. I promised Travis I would get on this website again so he knows I am meeting you guys. Please help and include me in your messages. I too would like to attend the meet and greet. My husband and I and Ashley, his girlfriend, want to be there.
