It's so hard to keep track of everyone through all the different groups, since we know our recruits are together it would be nice if we could each write our names here, instead of just our profile names it would be easier to know who is who.  I don't know if we can list our recruits names on here or not. Anyone else know?
When we start getting letters it would be nice to share what our recruits are saying since they each will probably tell different things about how it's going at GL.  What do you think?

Skaters Mom: This is a group for moms who have kids in Ship 4 Div 814, welcome!

I'm reposting this on the different 'groups' because I don't want to miss telling anyone, so this may be a repeat to some of you. Sorry if so.

Hi All, I got a letter from my son today!!! I can't believe it. As soon as I seen it I just started bawling, and that was just SEEING THE ENVELOPE! I was surprised it affected me so much just to see the envelope. Then i read the letter and sobbed some more!

I have to leave early in the morning to drive 4 hours to watch my daughter run track in the State meet. This is her 3rd year of making it to State so it is really cool. I don't know if she'll make it out of the preliminaries but hopefully. Anyway, I'm telling you that to say I can't write out what all the letter said tonight because I have to get to bed asap to get up early and drive. Going alone so need to be able to stay awake to drive! :-)

Anyway, the letter. The MAIN thing he wrote about was wanting letters. He said he didn't even care who they were from, just wanted to get letters. He said they have mail call every night and when they get a letter it is pretty much like Christmas. So I called my nephew, his cousin that he was good friends with, right after reading the letter and told him he HAD to write Colton. I must have sounded pretty bad because he said he would write him tonight! And that he would get 2 other friends of Colton's to write him tonight also. And he promised 4 sure! I had to run an errand tonight and when I came home they were here on my computer and had 3 letters written and almost ready to go! I am so glad because I can't tell you how much Colton stressed the letter thing. I"m sure you already are, but if your not, be sure to WRITE YOUR RECRUITS as much as possible as now I see it means as much as everyone has said it does to them. He also said he said the bunks are small but not bad, he is doing ok, and that 5 or 6 people quit already and they haven't even done much yet. He said he wishes he could come home but knows he can't. That broke my heart. He also said one of the worst things there was no music! That going for extended periods of time with no music 'sucks'. And said "BE SURE TO BRING MY IPOD when you come for graduation".

When I get a chance I will write more of what he said but I"m sorry I really have to get to bed. I just wanted to let you know I got a letter so hopefully you all will be soon if you haven't yet. May not be able to get back on here for a few days, depends on if hotel at State has internet in rooms. Hopefully you all will be sharing letter info when I get back on! (Btw, my son sent his letter on Sunday, we live 3 hrs from GL, and I got the letter today (Wednesday) if that gives you all some time frame.) Sorry for any typo etc. in this but in a hurry so not checking it before I send it. :-/

Hope you are all doing well and get letters SOON. Tammy
I got my letter too. I too, started sobbing. He said its as hard as he expected and what he misses the most is Q-Tips.
He told me most of his bunkmates were cool. Some just don't shut up, he is on the quieter side, but he only gave last names. The most surprising thing was all his PO's are really cool!! He alo said he has not gotten a single letter yet. I felt really bad because I have been writting every day. He is also going to Church!
Got my letter !! Yes I cried andmy hands were shaking. he said the first week was real bad but now he has gotten the swing of things and is actually having fun.he also said he hasn't gotten any letters. I am sure they have gotten some by now though. He sounded so much more mature already ! I feel so much better now, but still miss him dearly...he also said he may get to call home this sunday !
Hi Tammy. I was thinking about the same thing. This way we would have one group to go to instead of 4 or 5. I was going to start such a group. The name would be "Ship 4 Division 814 06/25/10. Should I do it? I don't think we will be able to put their names.
Debbie T,
Sorry I didn't get back to you sooner on this. When I started this 'discussion' I didn't really know the difference between a discussion and a group! So if you want to start a GROUP, that would be great, as I'm not sure how to do it. We will just need to redirect everyone from here to that group I guess? Sounds like you know much more and understand it much better than I. So anything you want to do would be great.
I created an Excel spreadsheet just today with our N4M's site 'names', ships, divisions, recruits names if I have them and where they are from to help me keep who is who straight, as I get confused and wanted a handy 'chart' to refer to. If anyone wants, I would like to be able to email you a copy of this because it has made it much easier to keep track of who is who since there are so many of us. But does anyone have any idea of how I could get this to our group if anyone wanted. As I don't know if we should post our emails or anything else on this site. Any ideas or is anyone even interested in it? It has been pretty helpful to me and I'd be happy to share.
CW, I am going to go chang this discussion to Ship 4 Div 814 06/25/10. Somehow we have to let everyone know.
Hi All! I'm changing this discussion 'group' name to just Ship 4 Division 814 as reccomended since all spec ops are in this division I now understand. So if you notice the name has changed, that is why.

I got a phone call from my son today, yippee! He had to call about medical issues which I will go into when it's not so late at night. But what I wanted to tell you all was that he thought they were going to be allowed a 20 min phone call on TUESDAY, which would be the 25th, because they all got a 4.0 on a test they took!!!! Yea for our kids jelling and doing so well together! I hope he is right and we ALL will get calls on Tuesday. So keep your phones handy!!! I don't know why Tuesday, but that's what he said. He also said they MAY get to call tomorrow..which is actually today now, Sunday. But he wasn't at all sure about that.

He said they are doing well and 2 of the RDC's (is that the correct term) are nice and then other one is ok. He said he is doing good and is so busy that he doesn't have much time to feel homesick. And by the time they get in bed at like 9:30 he is so tired he doesn't think much then either before he falls asleep.

The guy that he thought looks like Tom Cruise is named Owen. Anyone on here have an Owen?

So 'heads up' Moms on a possible call on Sunday (the 23rd) and possibly Tuesday the 25th. My birthday is the 28th so it would be a great early birthday present to get a call!
Hi everone..I got a phone call yesteday from my son!!! whooohoooo ..I hope everyone else received a call as well..I had so many questins and then when I saw the zip code and answered I forgot all about the questions..It was just great to hear his voice.. He sounded really good.. About halfway there now. He got his wisdom teeth pulled on Monday and had 3 days of recovery.. seems to be fine from it.. He said lots of folding and marching!! I bet he will fold those towels real nice!! Hope everyone heard from their loved ones and I will catch up with everyone later, Linda
Got my call yesterday also, around 6:00 !!! He sounded great..a little emotional in the beginning but he talked my ear off. Said its going real well, he didn't need to get his wisdom teeth out yet. He also said he only recieved 2 letters, 1 from me and 1 from his girlfriend..We have sent so many, I wonder why the mail is being held up ? I must have asked him 50 times, "Are you ok, are you sure " haha...he just laughed and said "everythings fine Mom " He sounded tired but good. What a happy day !!!

Ok now I am really confused about groups and discussions. I hope I am in the right place. If you figure how to get the list of who is who I would love it. I know from last year some one posted who was in each Division moms, and son first name and hometown. That was helpful, because at the meet and greet on Thursday before graduation we get to put faces with names. I am so excited for everyone who got calls, and cant wait for the next one.
Lisa, My list of N4Moms is growing. Does anyone have any ideas how I could get this list to you? I don't know if it's ok to put on here or not as it mainly has the recuits first names with the person on N4M's. I have done it in an excel spreadsheet and it also lists where some are from. Any ideas anyone???
