My 4 year old grandaughter lives beside of us and has a special place in all of our hearts  As a surprise to my daughter (her Aunt) we were going to bring her to PIR.  I received the letter today with PIR date of 09/10 and of course my daughter listed me, dad, sister and her grandmother as the 4 guest that would be attending.  I thought I read somewhere that children under 12 did not require a ticket.  Does anyone know if that is true?  Does she have to list her in order for her to be allowed to go to PIR?

One other problem, I am called by my middle name however my drivers license has my first name, maiden name and last name.  When my daughter listed my name she listed it as my middle name and last name.  I know this is a BIG deal when it comes to airline tickets and getting through security.  I always have to book my tickets with the name on my drivers license.  My husband does not think it is a problem but I would be so upset if we got there and I was not allowed in.  Does anyone know if this is a big deal?

I have small kids, too, and was thinking about bringing them so I have looked into this. They do not count towards the limit of four if they are under 12. You will need a birth certificate or social security card.

There is time to change your name. The final list has to be in about a week and half prior to PIR. I would write to your daughter today and ask her to change that just to make sure.

Thanks Michelle. I had already thought about writing her to tell her to change my name on the list.

I had read that children under 12 do no count towards the limit of four but i was wondering if she still has to list her name in order for her to be allowed in. I want to make sure I understand correctly...I could bring 12 people with me if I wanted to, even if their names are not on the list but only the 4 names listed are guaranteed a ticket to the PIR...correct? So, since my grandaughter is under 12 she does not have to be listed nor does she need a ticket. Is that right?

I am so, excited I cannot think clearly! You would think I was leaving tomorrow! I was wanting to surprise her by bringing her favorite neice and just don't want to have to give the surprise of it away. Only bad part is she will probably be more excited to see her than me!
You know, I think you are right, but let me have one of our more experienced moms pipe in on this.

On another note, my older sister's daughter was my favorite and was 4 when I was 19 and that would have been the best surprise ever for me! I may not have even talked to anyone else at PIR, but man I would have been happy to see her!
Yes, your grand-daughter can go and there is NO problem that her name is not written on this list. She CAN'T add it the list, because then she would have more than 4 people listed!! Bring small toys for her to play with, quiet ones - and a sweater, because it can get chilly in that room - even if it's 90 degrees outside! They have a concession stand in the hall that sells snacks, water and coffee - so bring juice boxes for her. Oh.... and $5 bucks for a kid sized sailor hat! (aka - dixie cup or lid), although the hats the women wear are different than the ones the guys wear - so they only sell the guys style hat. Wear her out walking around before ceremony begins, you'll hear more that way!!! (I have two grandson, 9 & 6).
