Hi! My daughter leaves tomorrow for KC. She will be going to Great Lakes for basic the next day. i know nothing about the Navy and am a little overwhelmed. I am so glad to find this site I sure hope I can find someone to kind of walk me through what to expect. She signed up last month and is leaving this month so I have not had much time to adjust to this! Thanks for any words of wisdom or advice in advance.

I wish you and your son the best. My son went in at 17 he was so thin when he got out of boot camp. He has been in 11 years now and just made Chief.
Hi Lacy's Mom, boy do I know how you feel. My son left almost two months ago, lots of crying and missing him I tell ya. I will fly out this week to his graduation from BC and can't wait to see him. Hang in there, pray and get support where you can. We are all in this together.
Jeanniec33 What is his PIR date...join the group, even at this late date you could get good info
If it is 9/10 here is the link to your group, just click on the http address http://www.navyformoms.com/group/pir091010
Hi Lacys mom! My daughter has been in the Navy for one year and she's stationed in Japan for the next three years. I miss her like crazy but the Navy was an awesome decision on her part. It is not easy but she is learning so much and she has already met some really increadible people. I wish you and your daughter the best of luck in this life changing adventure and thank her for serving her country.
Hi Lacysmom. I know how you feel. I was there. My Andrea joined in 2008, She also went to basic in the Great Lakes. Yes, it was nerve racking. I was concerned about her frame of mind when she left. We were very surprized when she told us of her future plans. This was my beautiful very cover girl Andrea. Well, lets get to it.
First of all, she had a good experience with boot camp. Hard, yes. Very challengeing, but rewarding. She found some of her best friends in boot camp. One of wish she still works with. She amazed us at graduation. You will be amazed too. When I saw her on graduationa Day, all I could do was look at her. In great shape but thinner than when she left home. She was very comfortable in her skin. We were so proud. She is now about to take test for Quarter Master. Two years of hard work. You will see how fast it will all go by. I pray for you and your family. Believe me, everything will be great. Please lets keep in touch. If you have any questions just ask. Your navymom friend Angs Mom. Trisha
Why are you such a loser??? Get off here. Anderwsm1989. Leave the navy alone.
Lacysmom - You see this idiot above me named andrewsm1989, those are the people that the Navy will not accept. There has got to be mental issues there. The problem with andrews is they were probably DQ'd (disqualified) because of Cranial-Rectal Inversion Syndrome, which means they have there head up their @ss.

Bottomline, I work with alot of young deppers and your daughter will love the Navy. Give me a shout, I can give you the complete picture of why the Navy is the best....
Never heard head up your ass put so well. I'll have to use it.Good one!
Hello,
I know how you feel.It I know how you feel.It is a very scary time.I just recently had twin girls join navy.My daughter britty just graduated on sept 2nd.My other twin breanna graduates sept 10.It is a very good thing for a child and I know it its hard but dont worry. It has changed both of my daughters for the better. When they first arrive,it will take about 2 weeks befor you receive letters but then should come as regular as your child writes.
Hi Lacy's mom - hopefully the posts here have eased some of your worries! My son went in at 17 and has been in for 13 years now. Boot camp & 2 overseas duties were what we faced. He spent 2 years in Rota, Spain & 2 years in Naples, Italy. While it was hard, very hard, for him to be so far away - he got to see so much of the world! And it wasn't crammed into a week or two vacation! He's back in the US now (THANK GOD!) and plans to stay for at least 20 years.

You will get through boot camp - and so will she! Hugs & kisses to both of you! Be proud of what she has chosen to do! It means so much to the rest of us!
Ladies - lets please please please remember to use good OPSEC!!! Please do not state WHERE YOUR SR / SAILOR OR OUR SHIPS ARE!!! We are not the only ones online, and there are plenty of bad-guys who love every little bit of information we give them!!!! We're here to support each other and learn more about our journey into the military along with our loved ones, but we need to be responsible and do our part to keep our loved one, and our entire fleet safe!

Thank you!
