My son started OCS on September 12.  I have not heard from him, but based on the other discussions, I am thinking that he is class 03-11.  Anyone else in this same class?   This is my first time as a Navy mom.  Any information is greatly appreciated.  thanks.

Your attitude sounds just like my daughter! Yes, she is on facebook. Her name is Sarah. What determines how long they will be in Pensacola? Her boyfriend seemed pretty sure that he would be in Pensacola for two years. Maybe not though? We are all so very proud as well. I call the whole thing bittersweet :) I think of them daily and can only imagine what they are going through. Sounds like you have a great career ahead of yourself as well. I wish you the best in all that! Take care.
Just to let you know what our LO told us that during OCS, mail was one of the things they live for! So, if you get their addresses, I would advise writing about every other day. Keep them connected to things that matter, and reality. OCS can be brutal! Our LO told us that pictures were a life line, so send out some pics to them. And yes, Pensacola for NFO's is typically 2 years. If they choose a different type of aircraft, they may get the opportunity to train elsewhere. Just depends on so much. We were on the base w/ our LO down there in Pensacola couple of weeks ago. So great to see these guys/gals/officers caring for and protecting / learning to protect our freedom. Pray for them every chance you get :). Hang in there, once they get phones back in a matter of weeks, it will be soooo much better. And do whatever you need to do to plan on attending Graduation. It's priceless to them to know that family/friends will be coming. Hang tough, b/c you can bet they are!
Thanks for all the information Annie. Glad you spoke of the pictures as my daughter was not too sure what to do about that. I made reservations for graduation. We are so very proud and cannot wait for December to finally get here! My prayers are often, like you said, every chance I get. My daughter got a quick text last night with the mailing address, which we already knew. We mailed our first letters Thursday. How did he have his phone? Seemed strange to us with us knowing that they do not have their phones. What type of clothing is needed for the graduation weekend? Do you suggest a color for a dress for my daughter for the dance? Any information would be greatly appreciated.
My Husband will be in the 04-11 class and I would love any info about class. Any tipps you can toss my way would be great.I am an ARMY girl and an Air Force Brat so please educate me on what outpost is? I was told I can send him mail after his outpost.
they should make a face book page for this class and usually they will have a couple of people in charge, be sure to mark private. My LO class 01-11 will be the candio's for this class. We just talked about it this morning. To get some idea what they go threw join facebook page 02-11 and 03-11 family and friends. a wealth of information. I followed a lot of classes so understood what my LO went threw. Now has 32 days until graduation. What a journey
Hello all. My husband is in class 03-11 and I just wanted to say thanks for being out there and supporting us through all of this. He and I are both prior enlisted. I was injured and got out last year, and we have a toddler with another on the way. I love that there are a group of moms out there supporting them and us while we travel this bumpy road together. Looking forward to reading all your news with your LO's!
Hi, I am a Navy wife and my husband is in the Sept. 12 (03-11) OCS class. I got to talk to his last friday night but it was only for 5 minutes and he had barely any voice left because of drill. I was just wondering if anyone knew kind of what goes on on a daily basis at OCS..i am just curious :) Also, if anyone has any good hints or tips i should know about, especially when it comes to what i can send to him and how to send it. We have a 7 month old son so i am trying to send him as many pictures and letters as i can to keep him updated on the baby. Any information is greatly appreciated, thanks so much! Looking forward to talking with everyone!
Jamie: There are a couple of good sights that do let you know what goes on. One is Survivors Guide to OCS and a series of articles called Pushed to the Limit - about new recruits. It is eye-opening what they go through. There are also you tube videos that demonstrate how they eat (chow hall demo) and drills and other things. The first three weeks look very hard, but seems like it gets better as time goes on??? Right now, they can only receive letters. He'll be able to tell you when he can receive other things. The letters and pictures will be so helpful and appreciated! So keep them coming. Hope your LO is doing well and he will get his voice back! Take care.
Thank you so much for this info!! I can't wait to check out the websites you suggested. It's really appreciated! Since i can't talk to him very often, it is nice to know that i can still know a little bit of what he's going through.
Hi! My boyfriend stared September 12th as well in 03-11, but recently got rolled and will now be 04-11. From what he's told me the only break he will get is 2 weeks at Christmas. Will he get thanksgiving off? or a weekend? any help will be appreciated, i just miss him so much :(
Hi Navy GF! My daughter's boyfriend is in the 03-11 class as well. How did you hear about him rolling into the 04-11 class? My daughter has heard nothing from her boyfriend. She misses him a lot, as well. Hope you will be able to see your boyfriend at Christmas. Are you on facebook? Check it out if you are not.
Thanks! He has been calling me every night since he got rolled cause they are more lenient with phone privleges. What is the name of the FB group because I tried looking it up and can't find it.if she hasn't heard from him he probably hasn't been rolled cause he would have called her so he is probably on track. Hope that helps and thanks for the info
