Submarine moms are special:

--- All of us have boys, "SAILORS!"

 --- Who serve on "boats,"

 --- With whereabouts unknown, and

--- We only get sporadic, short emails while they're out!

Tell us where your sailor serves...

My son is a Petty Officer First Class and currently on the USS Montpelier out of Norfolk. He will be going to the USS Cheyenne out of Pearl Harbor in December or January. He's a machinest mate and loves the los angeles class subs. He has been in the Navy almost 11 yrs and the Cheyenne will be his 3rd sub and 2nd tour in HI. He also did a tour in Iraq for a year. We are proud of our son and all that he has and will accomplish.
Wow, Submom, you're really "salty!" ('lots of experience') You're someone with lots of advice and wisdom to share. Hugs! k.
Fantastic. Please convey our thanks to your son. My son is a nuke officer on an Los Angels class sub out of Pearl.
BQB - so is my sailor! Did not know we had that in common!
You probably missed this comment I had posted on the Safe Harbor group.

Hey Rhonda, did I tell you my younger son is in OK - Norman - going to OU? My husband has a friend from prep school who lives in Tulsa. Next year, I'll be coming to OK to see my son and Abbyblue. Will stay in Norman or OKC, get a car. Will try to let you know in advance when I am coming. Maybe I'll come to a meet and greet?
That would be awesome! Definitely let me know and if you and Abby can't come this way, maybe I can come to OKC!

Hello Submom,

My son is also on the Cheyenne, he is a sonar tech. would love to talk more with you..

My son is assigned to the USS Wyoming Blue and I am wondering if there is anyone whose son or husband is also assigned to the Wyoming. My new daughter-in-law and I are not sure what to expect when the sub is out for ninety days and would welcome any input. Carolyn
Welcome, Carolyn! There are at least 7 WYOMING moms that I know of: Becky, Dani Brackett, deborah grannemann, Diane, Lisa H. mother of the amazing Morgan, Marian Zeigler, and Pat. These are their N4M user names, so you should be able to find them by using the 'Search' box at the top of the page.

Since there are so many now, one of you should start a group just for USS WYOMING moms. That would make it easier for other new moms to find ya'll. Hope this helps! Hugs, k.
Carolyn, Hi, my name is Lisa H. and my son is assigned to the USS Wyoming Gold crew. He's been there since March 2008. He, his wife and 2 kids live on base. We haven't been out yet to see the base but hopefully we can do that this next spring. We live in Tx so it would be a 2 day drive for us. We never know when he comes or goes but, we have gotten emails from him in the past. He won't be able to tell you much. If your daughter-in-law lives on base, she should plug in with the other wives. They can keep her informed.- Lisa
Alexandria, Groton CT. Soon, he will be flying to where the boat is soon and will get a little taste of life on the boat in small dose.
