Hi all!  This is a discussion I've started for the families with recruits in Ship 2, Div 952.  Of course anyone can join, but this will help those of us in this specific group get to know each other.

It will be today for you, I just feel it! I got the letter yesterday...it was funny I was expecting some sort of miss you mom, it's hard or whatever. Instead it was "write me, and PS - you need to buy your own airline tickets to graduation, the Navy doesn't pay for it." lol Very funny.
I Liz! My son just invited his GF to go to graduation since his grandfather can't make it due to medical reasons. She is SOOO excited. I finally got the form letter yesterday and other than writing his name backwards on the letters I 've sent the address was right! Shew! I'll have his cell phone with me for him, but not his computer. We live in different states and the only reason I have the phone is because he sent "the box" to me. Not sure about clothes though, I was thinking that they might buff up a bit, put on some muscle....I'll be curious to see what he says....
Liz! My son is going to Corpsman school too! How fun! I didnt' even know my son liked medical things! LOL. Hopefully they've chatted.
Hey ladies! Quick question, do any of you think you may have an "extra" slot for PIR? My husband gave up his so our recruits grandfather (Navy retired) can attend - he thought he wouldn't be able to and his slot was given to my son's girlfriend...... We are hopeful that he will still be able to get in since our graduating group seems smaller than others, but it would be nice to know for sure.

Just thought I'd throw it out there!!!
We "might". I posted a reply earlier and it went somewhere in cyberspace. I will see if this shows up before I post more.
We might have an extra Diana. We're taking us and our son's gf. Where did you buy a ribbon? Do you think we should all get one in same colors? Can't believe it took so long for your form letter! Holy smokes. We haven't gotten a call either. I'm hopeful every day!
Thanks ziggy! One of the mom's here makes the ribbons - her name is Lala. If you go back to page 9 or 10 on the main discussion page you can find pictures of the ribbons she makes. Then friend her and she'll send you the information - just put "ribbon" on your friend request. I got blue with silver lettering and my recruits first name!

I couldn't believe it either on how long it took to get the form letter and then Tuesday I had another letter - well not a letter, but two of the questionnaires filled out - very cool!

I got a quick call Friday from my son, he needed some more security information and he told me then it may be a few weeks before he can call again. Not sure why though....
Good Afternoon ladies! I have now received 3 letters. My son sounds bummed. He is a very quiet kid, no friends yet, says he is keeping a low profile, haha! Has anyone rec'd a phone call yet? I wish that would happen soon. Also, has anyone looked into the ribbons or matching division shirts that the other divisions are talking about? That might be a fun thing to do. Anyone going to the M&G or does each division do their own?
I'm sorry your son sounds bummed, but I'm sure it's just the first few weeks blues. I figure once they start working as a true team he'll start making friends. But keeping that low profile is always good - don't want to get on any radars! I did order ribbons today from Lala - Blue with Silver lettering using my son's first name. Need to look into the t-shirts. I'm not sure what's going on with the M&G - we had someone "in charge" but they left the group becuase their recruit had to process out...now we're kind of drifting again. What do you think? Oh yeah, no phone call yet other than a quick I need information for security stuff last week.
I want to meet all of you! Isnt' there a meet and greet at one of the hotels?
Hang in there Lori. The first couple of weeks are hard, because it's such an adjustment! I remember thinking that i was on a different planet when I went. ( 100 years ago) Plus, I was homesick, which surprized me because I didnt' think I would be.
Hello! My hubby and I just got back from a very fun trip to New York City- my friend called it an "empty nester moon.' HA While we were waiting for the plane in Chicago, we met two sailors who had just had thier PIR and were headed to A school. They were both from a 900 division and said they had helped train our sons! I didn't realize it, but the 952 division will "work" at the PIR during their last three weeks of BC. They were SO dang cute and I talked their heads off. One had his parents with him, they were driving back home, but were waiting for thier son's plane with him. He cracked us all up, because his sister accidently unfolded his raincoat and he about had a heart attack. He spent a good ten minutes refolding it. It had to be perfect. His mom said that before he left, he hadn't folded a thing ever. (Sounds like someone I lived with too! ) They both called Mark and I "maam and sir" too.
