Hi SailorMom! I just realized that your son Daniel will also be staying in GL, and is also an EM. I hope him and Cory already know each other from being in the same div., especially since they will probably be in the same classes at A school. Can't wait till PIR!
LOL, high school teachers can't make them do mandatory study hours, do PT, or send them to Captain's mast. Plus, the Navy has developed a good course of study, you master one step before you tackle the next.
Thank you Anti M for the inside information, very helpful to know.

Anita I wanted to contact you before, but forgot again. I will send you a private e mail.
Ver true Anti M but this is what my son really wants so he will do well. He is just like his mom and does well when he wants something. LOL I am so happy that he is happy because it makes me happy. I miss him but I know he is doing what he always wanted to do. He misses his grandfather very much and wanted to follow in his footsteps. We are very proud of him.
I'm happy he and you are happy!

I used to date the cutest EM ... 30 years ago....
Yes Anti M my son being happy makes me VERY happy. Just spoke with him for a little bit and they learned how to use the jaws of life today. He has to study tonight for another test tomorrow. So far he has the highest GPA in his class and I told him to keep it that way. He really can't wait to finish A school and do his job.
My son just had his PIR 10-1-10. WE had a great weekend. He doesn't go over until wed. 10-6. Question: does he need to have a computer? someone said the navy supplies them. And is there anything else he will need, once he gets to A-school?
The school provides computers for their training, but they are in a lab, not something he can take with him. He will not have internet access on those computers. Most sailors want a laptop for personal and recreational reasons. If he left one at home, ask if he would like to have it shipped (another topic entirely). If not, he should purchase this himself because kids his age will scoff at any technological choice but their own. There are many places to get a good deal; the NEX has a decent selection with no sales tax.

He needs nothing else for A school, over than the ability to work hard, and patience when the holds kick in. Everything is provided.
AntiM : thanks for the info. we were at the Nex, but didn't want to get anything. We had heard that they might get a computer. His birthday was the day he finished battlestations last week. Now i know what to get for him. I really do have to change my screen name, its still set up for PIr site.

I told him, next step on the process. A school; work hard I will see you when i can see you. My son just makes me so proud and yes very happy. Will keep on this site.
My son started his A school in July and looks like he might be finishing soon. He said he will get leave around the end of October unless he is given orders for C school. We have not seen him since he graduated bc and we are looking forward to him coming home for a visit. My son does not mind school and he is very smart and can do the work but is really looking forward to orders to where he will be stationed.

Congrats sailorjay and good luck to your son with A school. What a way to spend a birthday (Battlestations)
Did he get extra PT for his b-Day also. LOL
AseanEMmom: yep, he had alot of Pt that day,LOL. said 10 pushups for every yr.. he was 26. when i saw him, we bounced a quarter off his chest.

getting ready to send his laptop. hope it doesn't break the bank.
sailorjay, I really try to keep physically fit with walking & going to the gym but I don't think I could keep up with the navy. LOL Yes and the postage fees to send anything will break your bank account. I have sent at least five boxes of stuff to my son since he started A school in July and hopefully he will be done in November and will come home for a couple of weeks leave. I told him he will have to rent a moving truck to move his CRAP home or to where he will be stationed. I think we sent this kid everything but his bed and car. LOL
