While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed. Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.
**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.
**UPDATE 7/29/2021** You now must be fully vaccinated in order to attend PIR:
In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

SeansDad - Got a letter from my son yesterday. He is not nearly as stressed as he was a week ago : ) They are given a little time to write on Tues and Thursday now. He started his letter on Thurs. but had to finish on Sunday. The whole letter was much much more positive than the previous week's letter and phone call. I think they are doing better now. : )

GOT A LETTER!!!!! oh, man...at one point he says he is really bored and then he says he is so stressed out!!!! UGH!! with a ps... out of stamps...lol They haven't won any flags yet..
I had asked him what his favorite thing was and his response was...sleeping
He also included a letter to his younger brother who was struggling. It was a very nice letter and so encouraging....hooyah!! -

Yay!!! My son filled one of those questionaires. When it asked how he was sleeping, he replied " OK - bed is hard and pillow is as thin as paper" lol
I tied with our our dog for who he misses the most. I felt so important! rotfl -

Glad to hear that it sounds like they are doing better. Hopefully either I or my ex-wife will get a letter soon. My son said the same thing about the beds when he called last week...not very comfortable at all. I guess you can't expect it to be a 4 star hotel!! LOL

Hello everyone... my son Josh is Ship 12, Div 354, and last I heard from him (2 weeks ago), he was doing fine. I have read through most of the posts here and some of them are rather discouraging. Does anyone have any current info? And of course, no news is good news...
One question... after PIR, how much time do they get (how many days) to visit with family... Thanks!! -

sasafraswilds - I haven't heard anything since last Thursday. I'm keeping my fingers crossed they get a phone call this week because at least 3 or 4 other divisions have had phone calls in the last 3 days.
As for time after PIR, it depends on when your recruit has to go to A school. I think you will at least get Friday afternoon if they are Grad and Go. My son is nuke and we get to spend all weekend with him because he doesn't ship out to A school until Tuesday. : ) -

I have not heard anything for 2 weeks either. Hoping for a letter tomorrow. What is it that is discouraging to you? How much time they have depends on when they leave for A school. Some leave right away and some have the weekend. Last I heard my son thought he would have his orders next week. So about a week before graduation. We will know better then.Hope this helps. And I am still believing that no news is good news.

It was discouraging to read about the Div having some difficulty... especially the part about them being told they might have to start all over again. Still, no news IS good news... and I am hopeful that all is going well for them now. As to A-school, as I undertand it Josh is going into 'communications techology'. Also he said we should plan to stay for 'four or five days' after graduation... but that doesn't make sense in context of what I've read here and elsewhere... Thanks for any enlightenment you may share!

I think that when they tell them they will have to start over again they are using fear to motivate them. If one of our kids was not going to graduate on time I really think they would have made them make that call home by now. I could be wrong but that is what I think. Not knowing is the hardest part. Yesterday was a really bad day for me. Today is better. I don't really know that we will get another phone call until after Battle stations. They have to earn phone calls and if they aren't calling it may be because they are having trouble working as a team so not earning them. I don't think we will know anything for sure about what happens after graduation until they have their orders. Again, not knowing is the hardest part.
Maybe someone else will have more insight. -

As understand it, from reading elsewhere, if a determintion is made that recruit' PIR will be delayed they 'have to' call you immediately, that same day. So for now we can just know that everything is going according to plan...

I last received a call 2 weeks ago today and a letter the day after that. I contacted my exwife and she hasn't heard anything since then either. It seems likes some of the other divisions are getting more contact from their recruits so it may be that this division has had more issues than the others...which my son indicated when I spoke and in his letter. So yes...no news is good news and hopefully there will be letters and calls for all of us soon. :)
