Hello everyone,

My daughter leaves for bootcamp November 9th.  This will be the first time she won't be home for the holidays.  I was just wondering what happens during Thanksgiving and Christmas???

Just wondering,

Maria

Oh, send a card. Just don't decorate the envelope or use a musical one. As it is, he might get to do a few birthday pushups anyway! My nephew's B-day is on Halloween, so I was able to send cards for that, double-duty. Send a Thanksgiving card that's a birthday card, that should be low-key enough.
Thanks Guys!! Great ideas!
WHOOOOOOOO!! I got a phone call home today from him WHAT A GREAT PICK ME UP!! He was only allowed because he did not have a phone card to call home on the day he arrived, and it was only a minute long! Also in the mail came...his first 'letter' ...3 sentences long....but it was something, and I now have his address! I have 5 letters going out tomorrow :)!! He says he is the clothes washer!" Can anyone help...what does that mean? Does he get to wash everyone Else's clothes?? HE also said he would get special recognition for this at Graduation???

Thanks everyone for listening!

Cindy (Proud Mom) Yay for you!!

He's the Laundry Petty Officer...he collects dirty laundry, takes it to the where the laundry is done and then collects the clean laundry.

Have you joined your PIR group?
Thanks Jessica...do they volunteer for this or is it placed on them! I can see him volunteering for it...He was my laundry helper around the house so this is nothing new for him, he was very good about getting the laundry done, and making sure his work uniform was clean and pressed, Guess he fit right in there :)!!! ...just like at home :)!!! No, I have not found a link to the PIR group.

Cindy (Proud Mom)
Proud mom when does he PIR?

They usually volunteer for most of the jobs unless it's one of the Recruit Petty Officers...those are usually chosen (and often they go through several)
Might be a good idea to tell me his PIR date on my page...that way I don't lost track of our conversation
My son leaves Nov 8th! Hello!
hi my son went in on 10/26 a day late due to the weather......i am really concerned with his graduation date because it will most likely fall right on one of the holidays of christmas eve or new years eve....is it true that one had heard that they may try to push it for them to be done by this time....i cant see the navy doing this but was wondering if it was ever done....trying to book flights and lodging are going to be scarce at this time......let alone winter in chicago at this time.....my sons box arrived just yesterday...all the emotions came flooding back.....
They tend to not hold PIR on the holiday weekends, so it may be before if they push, or two weeks later. No way to know this early.
If they do it the same as last year, recruit divisions scheduled to graduate on Christmas Eve will graduate a week earlier, on Dec. 17.
My son also went out on10-26, and I got the letter home stating Graduation will be 12-17. I did the same when my son's box of things came home...God, what an awful feeling huh?!!! I searched his pockets for a little note...but nothing :( ! The only thing we can do is...hang in there! Miss him so!!!
