My son is leaving Cleveland, Oh on November 15, 2010 for the Great Lakes. He will then stay right there for A school, Engineman.
How are you holding up? It is a week away before they leave for boot camp. My son is very excited and counting down the days. I wonder if he will feel that way when I take him to Baltimore. Is your son excited or having mixed emotions?
I am holding up as well as I can. My son is so excited, he to is counting down the days. One of the good things is that he and a buddy enlisted through the buddy program so Justin will be going in with someone he knows. They are both going in as Engineman also s they will have school together too! How are you holding up? I can hardly believe the time is almost here, when he enlisted 8 months ago he complained that Novemebr 15th would never get here. Justin did the 2nd thought thing but we talked to him and he calmed down a lot, I think a lot of his issues were what he was going to miss here at home. Hang in there, we are going on this ride together!
He also had a friend enlist on the buddy system, but his job got changed now he is leaving Dec 15th. Tomorrow we are having a big party for him with friends and family. I am holding up so far. I think it will hit me next Sunday when I take him to Baltimore and watch him get sworn in on Monday. Seeing that bus pull away for the airport. Its going to be hard for the Holidays. I think with Christopher its sinking in now this is his last week home with his girlfriend, friends and family. He will also be in A school after bootcamp.
How are you doing? My son called me this morning at 2:35 telling me he made it to GL. I stayed at MEPS with him until the bus pulled away. He seemed to be excited when boarding the bus. I could tell he was exhausted this morning when he called. I was stronger than I thought I was going to be.
I'm hanging in there, my son called at 10:15 last night to give me the scripted phone call. We were at MEPS until right after the swearing in, they had them sign their contracts and eat lunch and then they were taken to the airport. They had to wait at the airport for 4 1/2 hrs until their plane took off. When Justin called he sounded exhausted but also very excited to get this started.
Your son left on the 15th from Baltimore? That's when my son left. We were probably there at the same time. I got my call around 12:48. My box arrived yesterday afternoon.
Yes we were there together and took each other pictures. I got pictures of the navy group and I think your son is in them. I got my box today and my son called me 2:35 a.m. I could tell he was very exhausted. I wonder how they are doing? Im ready to get the graduation date so I can plan my trip. I know Im staying at the Navy Lodge alot cheaper than hotels.
I bet he was exhausted. My son said they had to wake up at 4:30 a.m. which means they were up for almost 24 hours.

Thanks for the tip regarding the Navy Lodge.
As of right now my son is also scheduled to leave on 11/15. I am really angry right now though. He went to the dr. today for head congestion. His recruiter told him if anything, even there was documentation in his medical chart the navy would just kick him out. No questions asked! Now my son is really stressing that he won't be able to go!
My son will be leaving from Baltimore, Md. Where will is your son leaving from?
Hello surfermom
My son is leaving next Monday 11/8 and he's having like a little cold because of the weather. He have told me the same if he gets there sick they kick him out so I tried to do anything to make him get better. But I'm sure they're gonna be ok. Just wait, be calm and try to calm him.
Best wishes
