For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed. Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.
**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.
**UPDATE 7/29/2021** You now must be fully vaccinated in order to attend PIR:
In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

Patti - checking on flights its ends up being 3 stops to get him to ISLIP; price is comparable. Best flight is into Newark but that is almost a 3 hour drive to Groton. Are you certain you are able to help? I'm going to call AAA to see what they can come up with for air/ground tranportation. Will have them work with Hartford, Providence and ISLIP (minus ground for ISLIP of course) to see what we can find that is reasonable. I'm going to be nervous to hit the 'BOOK' button - wish A were here to run by what I'm finding. Although, he put it in my hands so am sure he will be grateful for what I set up. The 27th is so close the Chrismtas and New Years and such a busy time of year so I want you to think about your offer - and when is S leaving for Goose Creek?? My goal is to get him to an airport by 1:00 P to allow enought travel time to get to Groton before 3:00 P. Looks like the Quarterdeck is open for reporting until 4:00 P and there is a Command Duty Office phone number for after hours. I may call the PAO at Groton today to get some input.

LI Airport is not closer than Hartford or Providence, But a lot better than Newark - That is really far. from the Li airport, it would take and Hour and half to get him to the Greenport, LI Ferry than a little over an hour on the Ferry, then a 5 minute Taxi ride to the base.. Southwest flies direct and non stop out of Midway, Chicago into Islip 2 Hour flight and about $150 ish. could you get his back to Chicago? I could pick him up and drive him to the Ferry. My hubbie will be driving S, so they will probably leave on Sunday.

I agree... you need a degree to be the 'next level Mom' :). I was getting so frustrated trying to help him with travel plans, (on top of I couldn't hear a word he was saying) not knowing a thing about Florida and where the "A" School base is compared to the airport etc. Although he will be there 7 days prior to needing to be...without a car or knowing anyone when he arrives in FL, it is just another thing to worry about :\ . You would think the Navy would be giving some sort of advice, perhaps that is to come??
Hugs!!! I can just feel the feeling your having about forgetting "A's" Birthday...but you know how they told us "they have lost track of days/times" he probably didn't know it was his birthday today :)...you'll see him in a week for a big Birthday Hug!! -

pmgcakes, :) I will LOL Thanks! He told me on Friday when they had "inspection Testing"not only did he get inspected on his clothes and "rack"...but the 'laundry room' is his responsibility too since he is the PO , so he was concerned about that! But he passed with only 1 point taken off for something being on the floor that he missed. He had to stay up all night doing the Units Laundry he said, (Washing, drying, folding, returning to SR) then, just laid down to go to sleep and was woken up...it was his turn to do roving night watch, he was tired!

I have a hard enough time doing laundry for (now) 3people, I cant imagine the stress of doing it for 80... be proud of him...

Oh I am so proud of him in more ways than just one!!! He says he doesn't mind it because it takes his mind off other things, and sometimes gets him out of IT, and he is able to study while waiting for a "load" to get done :)!

You're so good cakes; yes, thank you to E for doing our SRs laundry Cindy. My SR only did his laundry when he became desperate before BC. It will be interesting to see how he does when home on leave. You son probably won't want to look at another piece of laundry after he leaves BC! I would think it would be somewhat "soothing" in the laundry room - the hum of the dryer, the swish swish of the washer and No Yelling!

My son also mentioned he knows the "Laundry Guy" he mentioned other names also someone with last name C and a guy they call "Forrest Gump".... I was laughing he said the guy can do so much IT and never break a sweat... He just keeps runnin... lol
