We live in the boondocks of Southern Illinois.  The St. Louis Airport is 2 1/2 hours away and the amtrak is 3 blocks away from our home.  We've decided to take the Amtrak to Union Station, (4 hr 37 min), and decided we'd like to stay at the Ramada Inn.  My question is---what do you suggest we take to get to the Ramada from Union Station?  My hubby absolutely refuses to drive in Chicago, so that is not an option, he already has high blood pressure and we don't want to push it!  :)  If anyone could give me a specific name of what train to take from there or shuttle or taxi, I would so much appreciate it.  We live in a small town--it had a taxi last year (1 taxi that was a mini van), but it went out of business.  I hate to look like Jed and Elli Mae Clampett, but that is what I'm feeling like.  Thanks in advance!  Joyce

I totally understand how your hubby feels about driving in Chicago. Here is the number that we used for transport from our hotel to PIR. You may want to see if they pick up from Union Station. 1-(847)689-1050.
Here are the numbers for Amtrak 312-655-2066 and Metra 312-322-6777. If you call the Ramada, they can probably give you some recommendations. I am sure they would be able to help you. When is the PIR? Good luck!
the PIR is January 14th and he leaves on the 15th to Monterey California.
Sorry to see that he is Grad n Go. I bet he will gladly trade the snow from GL for sunny Monterey-lol. : ) I like how you added the PIR to your profile with the ship/div #s.
My son is headed for Monterey as well. Haven't heard from him yet but I wonder if it will be Saturday for him as well! How did you find out? Is he Grad & Go? I'm dying for a letter so maybe it will clear some things up for us!
My son's recruiter told us on Saturday that he is scheduled to fly out of Chicago on the 15th of January to Monterey. My son's recruiter is awesome and bends over backwards to help out. Your sons recruiter should have the paperwork, so I'd call and ask if I were you. Let me know! My son said he was writing a little bit at a time to us, but he has to wait for permission to send it. We are planning to stay at the hotel until Sunday so that we can go to the airport with him on Saturday and stay until his plane leaves. We are also going to take him his phone and laptop so that he can have it with him. You can't give them that stuff until at the airport to leave.
FYI, they don't even have the flights that far out for recruits going to "A" School. Recommend you wait and ask your recruit when he flys out.

There is a chance he could be on a chartered flight and you might not be able to see him out at the airport or even give him a bag, once he gets closer to PIR he should find out those things.
Good advice Angie, thank you saying that. Hmmm, chartered flight--I sure hope not. That would be icky, I want some time with my baby boy :( .
Well, guess I'll just wait to hear! Thanks, ladies!
