The USS Abraham Lincoln will be deployed for Christmas and has given approval for the ship to receive pillowcases while on deployment.   That will be 5,000 or more strong.

The main postings for this project will be in the Lincoln group under the thread called "The Lincoln Family Love Pillowcase Project".

I will update here as well so you don't have to join the Lincoln group.

Let us know what you can do to help us get the ship done!

I received this email from one of the wives from my son's squadron today!

Hey Kim,
Just wanted to let you know my husband received his package from you and boy did you make the sailor's of DET 5 Happy! "it was really nice of her and was really appreciated by all of us here on the DET, everyone got one and had fun doing so, it was awesome" He also mentioned it was a much needed moral boost for everyone. I'm sure when he get's a chance he'll write you and thank you himself but I just wanted you to know how great of a reception you got for them. Thank you so much again from all of DET 5 and it's family members, for giving our spouses and loved one's something to cheer them up during the holiday's.
Can't thank you enough,
Nicole
I don't ever expect a response but boy does it make me want to do more when I hear that it has cheered them up and especially since they are away from home for Christmas.

Kim, what a wonderful note from the sailor's wife!  thanks for posting it.  and even more so, for working so long and hard to get that squadron done!  Awesome!

Kim,  That is a very nice note and it is nice that he mentioned that all enjoyed them.  It is good to know when the pillowcases cheer them and boost their morale.  That's why we make them, isn't it.  I am really impressed about the number you made.  BZ to you.

Kim, I am posting your note in the Lincoln Family Love thread also.

This is some of the note that was recieved from a guy who helped Ethan pass out the pillowcases for his squadron.

We have passed them out to all but about 8 people.  We have a few extras which we will save for new people.  What a great "Welcome Aboard" present!  One reason the pillow cases were so perfect is that the ship only gave us enough for one per person at the beginning of cruise.  That meant if you put it in the wash, you had to wrap your pillow in a sheet.  New people that came later did not get one at all!  We have been requesting new ones for a while.

Kim, everyone in the squadron has adopted you as their Mom.  You have 250 kids now!  The grumpiest of our sailors was cheerful today.  It was a great boost in morale for us all.  This made everyone feel like they have a little piece of home.  Many picked out designs they know their children will love, and plan to pass them down when we return home.

He said one guy also commented that he would take his with him on every deployment from now on. I am so glad that I was able to do this for them.

Kim, that is a wonderful note!  Please pass along to Ethan, that the note is a present to us all.  It encourages us to keep sewing.

What nice notes you've recieved Kim!  I laughed at ME's note... you now have 250 more mouths to feed???  We moms never have enough kids and our sailors never have enough MOM's!!!!!

Def. a good idea to have extras for all the new sailors coming aboard!

Kim, Thank you for posting the notes.  They are great to read.  :)

love that note Kim!  I actually mailed some extra pcs to the CMC to keep for the newbies.  I am glad to know that they will hold them and not use them.  That is always the challenge in doing this.  So that news blesses my heart that he is concerned with the new sailors coming on board.  If you write back to him, please thank him for me for doing that.

My son hasn't received anymore pcs.  that's a puzzle to me.

Just heard from my sailor boy and the Air Dept. pillowcases have arrived.  He got a phone call this morning asking him about them.  They passed his division out onto their racks.  Too bad they didn't do it in a group setting but they are all over the ship so I guess whatever is easiest for them works!  Told him to take pictures, but I doubt we'll see any!!!   Kids... gotta love them!

Heard from my sailor in Engineering E.  Pillowcases arrived that I made and were passed out but nothing was said about others in their area receiving any.  However, my sailor gives information on an "as needed basis". LOL

Tell him we "need" the information.
