"Darkhorse" is the name given to the 3rd Battalion, 5th Marine Regiment, the most highly decorated regiment in the Marines.  These young men are currently serving in Afghanistan.  There are five companies in this battalion and this represents a large number of Marines who would appreciate any love we can send their way.

Weapons Company received several care packages in December and then HAE moved on to Lima Company.  When all have finished up mailing their boxes, Lima Company will be put to "bed."  The next, and probably last company, we will do is Kilo Company.  There are about 170 Marines in this group, all males.  The mailing date for Kilo Company is February 7.   This should give us enough time to get sufficient pillowcases ready for mailing.  As with every project, we need to have sufficient pillowcases for each Marine in the company to receive one.

For OPSEC reasons, I would appreciate your letting me know via PM (make me a friend on N4M if I am not already one) the number of pillowcases you will send in your box.

Sue sent me this "Semper Fi" poster.  I watched the video about the Marines in Bethesda.  The attitude of the Marines who have suffered terrible injuries is absolutely amazing.  Here is a link with a video of Kilo Company.

Where are we with this project? One of my N4M ladies dropped of boxes of goodies for me to ship. Am I still to ship them to Weapons Company?

Let me know when you get a chance.

Birdie, we are getting ready to send pillowcases and goodies to Lima Company.  Mailing date is January 10.  So far volunteers for pillowcases have been:

Tamara

Natalie

Shirley

Lyn

Dori

Sue will make up the balance but we could still use some more sewers.  If anyone has a stash and wants to send some, let me know.  If you plan to send goodies only, I would appreciate knowing that as well.

I haven't had a chance to make any more pc's the last couple of weeks. We had a baby shower for my DIL yesterday and she left this morning to head back to San Diego. I hope to get some done soon.

I've sent 5 care packages, including 2 with scarves to Weapons Company. One of the came straight from alltravelsizes.com.

I haven't gotten the mailing info for Lima Company. If you want me to send the next couple of boxes of goodies to Lima Company, I'll need to get that contact info.

Thanks!

Sue will be mailing the address in a day or two.  I'll tell her to add you to her list.

What is the count so far for Lima Company?

Here is what I have:

Tamara 15
Natalie 40
Dori 30
Shirley 10
Lyn 40

This means we are still 50 short.

Put me down for 10 more. I didn't make pillowcases for the Lincoln project so I have some in my stash that will work for the Marines. Unfortunately, the rest in the stash are either for females or are very definitely Navy.

thanks Lyn and you did too make pcs for the LIncoln.  you did the command.  which they have by the way.  I should have held those hostage, but that's another story.  hahah.

can you post your photos in here too?  I like to keep the photos with the threads so we can find them again easily.

DC, I can do another 5.
Many thanks, Lyn and Tamara!  Appreciate the help.

Here are some of Lyn's pillowcases:

I am getting my boxes together and am including those individual instant coffee packets. But I don't have room for any creamers or sugar. Can someone else include those in their box. If so, I'll mention that in the note I'm including in the box. Thanks.
