New dress white uniform: what do you think?

I recently learned that the Navy is starting to roll out the new "fancy crackerjack" dress white uniform. Several recruits currently in boot camp are reporting that they are getting them as part of their seabag, or have been told they will be getting them later. Does anyone have any more details on the timing of this new uniform rollout?

I personally think this is a HUGE improvement over the old dress whites, which I think look sloppy on everyone, no matter how fit and properly worn they are.

I like them.  One hopes they decide n a breathable, easy to stow and clean, fabric. Yes, the loose ones look terrible on most women and any sailor who isn't tall and skinny.  I think the new one is the style my dad wore in WWII.  So the new style may be the old style returned.  

 

I never got the chance to wear crackerjacks, they were rolling them in as I was leaving.  LOL, they hadn't rewritten the females regulations well enough, women weren't wearing a t-shirt underneath. Lots of cleavage initially.  The other female summer uniform which was tested at the same time was a white version of the dress blue jacket and skirt.  That went over like a led balloon with the test group.  

 

So, when will we get rid of those awful PBs?  That had to have been someone with enough clout to push through a contract for a buddy, I can't imagine a roomful of Naval personnel of any rank deciding that making sailors look like Marines was a great idea.

Nope, dad's uniform didn't have the stripes, but it was more closely tailored.

I personally think the BPs are such a huge improvement over the old working uniforms, which I HATED. I got out at the same time the Navy introduced crackerjacks for women. Some of the new women coming on board had them from boot camp, but we weren't required to have them yet, so I avoided that fashion mistake. I actually still have my old (pre-crackerjack) women's dress whites, here's a pic of me in them, coming home from A school.

Oh, I didn't like those whites much either, I got the nickname "Lacy" wearing them for an unfortunate choice in undergarments.

 

"Better" is a relative term, yes?  

 

But I did love the Johnny Cash Blacks.  I looked goooood in those.

Arwen, did you have the women's black beret?  Not the p-cap, but the beret?

No, they dropped the beret just before I joined. I was very sad, it would have been way better than the p-cap, which didn't look good on anyone. I still have my p-cap in my dresser, I'm not quite sure why.

Mine's in a storage bin, I think.  My friends raided my uniforms ages ago, so I don't have much left.  I do have a bucket around.  Hubby still fits into his uniforms, skinny so-n-so.

Like the new one, but i know the DB much enjoys his new OC uniforms over his enlisted. I also know his brother is looking forward to the new dress whites.
