For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

my son is on ship 3 div 149. have no ideai how any of this works. just received his address from recruiter yesterday. sent all my letters to him this am. not sure when his PIR is? Guess I'm waiting on the Offical ltr. ???

Hi TX mom..I called my son's recruiter this pm and he was not in the office. Hoped to get a call by now but doesn't look like it will happen. I guess we are too anxious. Tomorrow may be brighter. Did you receive a package?

My boyfriend left on 3/1 and is in sip 3 div 149 as well!
His PIR date will be 4/29/11
It hasn't been "officially" posted but since it's 149, you can watch from the official website that it will be the following week, 4/29/11
My boyfriend's dad just received his form letter today. Got the box Monday, have you gotten anything?

My son is in 3/149 as well. I got his letter today and PIR is listed there as 4-29. Tomorrow we mail out our first round of letters.

I am so glad you started this group! My son is also on ship 3 div.149, I am not very good with computers so getting this far is huge for me. I received his box on Monday and formal letter on Wednesday. Does anyone know what comes next?

Hi, my son R is same ship same Div. He will stay in Great Lakes after PIR for school in FC. I am hoping that they can actually write us a letter tomorrow. Recruiter told us that if they were good, ha, they would have a little free time their first Sun. of BC. I will spend another anxious week waiting for the mailman.

What comes next is the first letter and first phone call!! yay! :)
They say around week 3 (which should be this week!) we will get the first letter(s) and the first phone call!! So excited!

Does anyone know about when to expect the call, I work 5 days a week 9-10 hour days and don't want to miss the call! I can't wait to hear his voice!

My son called Wednesday, he was filling out paperwork and had to get information from us. It did a world of good just to hear him. Even though he was upset and it was sad, just hearing him helped me, and I hope helped him. My sons girlfriend said we should prepare ourselves that the letters we recieve are probably going to be hard to read because they will be sad, lonely. But it will be nice just knowing he is finally reading our words and letters of encouragement.

Can anyone tell me if we can send pictures, cards or just letters, I know we can't send care packages but that is all I know for sure. I also bought him a prepaid phone card before he left, it was only 30 min., do you think I should send another one?

Depends on his RDC, some let you send pictures and cards, others don't allow it. Ask your SR in the letters you write him if it's okay and then once you get the okay from him you can start sending them. They ask you don't make the letter bulky though.
And yes you will need many many more minutes. From what I've been told here it sucks up 35 minutes just to call us. Also some ladies get lucky enough to have an hour phone call with their SR on their final call. I sent a 360 minute one (only $20)
