I'm sure my family and I will take my SR out to eat, but after that... I'm at a loss on what to plan to do.  What's everyone else planning?  Just curious to compare notes/steal some ideas.  :)

LisaB... ine said the same thing too!! He usually hates the mall... LOL!!

We're all going out to eat and then will go back to our hotel to visit.  We're from Illinois so my son won't need to go sight seeing.
We will be with him untill sunday so I would like to do as much as we can but now looking at the weather it is supposed to b raining and not very warm....Looks like sunday will be the only nice day....OH Well...

Mine wants to go to the Gurnee mall as well! Possibly a movie there too.

I am trying to get us to Giordanos which is just up/down the street from the mall. I went to their website and you can actually order pizza online and they will ship it to you! They partially cook it, flash freeze it and pack it in dry ice...but we really should eat it there! However, if he doesn't feel like going, I will take my other two on Saturday. Whatever he is in the mood for is fine with me!

We are arriving on Tuesday and so have Wed to scout around and prep for PIR. Go to Wal-Mart if need be. Might go over to the Main Base. There is a museum there too.

We will have long days (litttle sleep-but want to be careful. I am renting a car) what with PIR day being his only "liberty" and then going to the airport to sit with him at 2AM Friday until he leaves. IDK when that will be so I am guessing we will be tired. I booked until Sunday "just in case". I think I heard a request from one of my sons for the aquarium! We could do that Saturday.

I am praying for the weather to get better. My youngest needs a jacket...try to find that in the high Desert this time of tyear! We will probably have better luck in IIllinois! LOL

Thats funny, I got my hubby two new pair of shorts and I think I may take them back and get him some new jeans!
I've worked so hard on my darned outfit.  I don't care if it is sleeting, snowing, and hailing: I'm wearing the dress and sandals!  :) :) :)
We lived in Flagstaff, AZ for many years. I totally understand that you can't find ANY decent jacket right now. There will be places up here (IL/WI) to get one for sure. It's still cold and rainy. lol

Our pastor recomended Giordanos!!!  He made it sound as though those pizzas were blessed by God.  We're hoping to get there.

We looked into the aquarium and some of the museums in Chicago (they look AMAZING! by the way), and what I'm running into is that according to Google maps,it takes about an hour to get anywhere into Chicago from the base.  I'm nervous about using up that time in a car...

Our sailor is a grad and go and only has liberty until that same evening. How far is the mall and Giordanos?

my dad mentioned there is a train station near the base, have you seen this?  I haven't checked on times yet.  My daughter wants to go anywhere downtown Chicago.  I assume the museum and aquarium are downtown?

yes.

I was just on the site.

Go to www.metrarail.com The dark green line is the Union Pacific line. (Starts in Kenosha)Great Lakes is on the routeGoes to Ogilvie Center downtown from there it's a bus to the Museums. But I haven't figured that out yet...I have got to get off this computer and pack and clean!

Don't know about parking at the station, briefkly checked schedules, but the link should get you started.

If anyone has done this...a step-by-step would be SO appreciated!

Live in SoCal all,my life-public transportation is...a joke, foreign creature!

there is a movie theater at the Mall. My son will want to see Hangover II im sure. He and his dad saw the first one together. I don't know if he knows about the second one.
