DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

Hello there!

My son is arriving at O'Hare approx. 1330 (oops military time - 130pm) on the 9th for his girlfriend's graduation on the 10th! We have been searching for shuttles, buses, and taxis! He needs a ride to the base and has lodging at the Navy Lodge! We were suppose to go, however, due to my mom's recent passing we can not! It was going to be a big moment for ALL of us when he asked her for his hand in marriage!!! Her parents are also unable to attend...we were all heading from the Pacific Northwest!!! We are retired military and would have loved to share and was honored to even ask to be there for that magic moment! He too will be leaving in the next couple of months in the delayed entry as a SEAL recruit, following in his father's footsteps. I was told to post this on the general PIR and see what happens! We continue to look for other sources! He has limited funding and would be more than happy to assist with gas from O'Hare to the base!!! Would appreciate any assistance in this! To those who have provided all the info. and so forth - thank you!! Last resort taxi - ugh!!! God Bless you all and be very proud of your kids who are graduating, they busted their tushes - believe me!!!

I will email you privately with a name and number that will be a great help to you!

Thank you so much!!! Truly appreciated!!

I think posting in your PIR group would be the best bet. Many ONLY look at comments in their PIR group and don't bother to look at stuff on the Forum.  There are 91 members in your PIR group - someone is bound to be landing at O'Hare at the same time. If you see a "send a group message" on your PIR site, it means the group creator is allowing the members to send a message to the entire group. Go ahead and use it. The members would then get a message in their INBOX about your need. If you don't see a "send a group message" then ask the creator (or an admin of the group) to send one on your behalf.

I know for a fact that Mom2aSailor has a GREAT connection for transportation in Chicago. She is the BEST at solving these types of problems. How is your Sailor doing Mom?

I'm so sorry for your loss. We are also from the Pacific Northwest and drove to Chicago via Omaha for PIR on 5/6/11. 5,000 miles and one Sailor later we are home! Congratulations to your son and his soon to be fiance. Please thank them and the rest of those in your family that are active or retired military for their service.

Hey girl!  :)
My sailor is doing fine! She's in VA right now in A School! :)  Where's your son? I miss our BC days and group! :(

He's "on the beach" in CA for A school. Lord only knows where he will end up. I'm really glad I was able to meet you at the meet and greet. I also miss our BC days and group. It seems like it was so long ago, but I NEVER would have made it through BC without the rest of you!

Say hi to your Sailor, from one proud mom to another! :)
