I have a couple of questions for anyone that can help! My husband went through MEPS today and got a great score on ASVAB and passed the physical and did not get a job, he has to go back on July 6th in order to get his job. Questions: .....So how does the whole automatic deposit thing work for his pay, who tells you about it ? when does it start???? When do you find out about how much money you get for housing expenses while he is gone??? The recruiter pulled it up on his website but I have not seen anything in writing yet??? My little girl and I are staying in NC until he completes A school and is stationed somewhere so I just want to make sur he is not getting "screwed before he signs the contract??? Just want to make sure that we have all of our bases covered before he signs the line on Wednesday? any pointers???? Thank you to anyone that helps!

He can use either his own current bank or sign up for USAA or Navy Federal, he just has to put your name and home address on the info, it will all come to you. It will be taken care of in I believe MEPS or maybe its the first few days of BC. He is on the payroll the day he arrives at BC, and it takes about 3-4 weeks to start his pay they get paid on the 15th and the 30th of each month, the first paycheck will be smaller due to deductions for uniforms and misc. stuff for BC. I have no idea who much for housing expense but someone will give you the info, plenty on here know that. His housing is not based on his contract, he just needs to include his wife and child on all his info as needed.
Thank you! Yes we have been put on all the info!!!!! I will make sure that he is prepared in case they speak about it at MEPS!
Be prepared that there may not be a job opening, the Navy is overmanned and the jobs are scarce, this economy has a huge effect on all of it. You and your husband may need to be very patient and wait it out. or you could get lucky and a job is available, many have to wait for their ship dates, up to a year, some have ship dates that are a lot sooner than a year. Every single recruit has their own story to tell of waiting or not getting the job they wanted or maybe it was easy for them, you never know. Best of luck to you and your family, hope it all goes as planned.

My son was on delayed entry. It was a year.

Be patient it all will work out, it was almost an entire month before he began getting his check and when they say the first check will be smaller they are not lying.

so be prepared for that.

Good luck and God bless to your Husband.

Happy New Year.
