Just wanting to touch base with any other mom's whose child is leaving on that day for boot camp.  I would like to have other mom's to talk to and compare notes with that are going to be going through the same thing at the same time.

My daughters ship date is the 2nd she is 17 and coming out of California
My son is 20 and coming from Michigan.  Good to meet you - hopefully we can support each other during this transition.

Thank you for that information - I'm new to the site and all the information that is coming my way is soooo helpful.  I look forward to being a part of the "family".

My son leaves that day as well I would love to talk to you about what we as moms are going through.

Here is a blog I added today with general info.

The faster you learn to navigate the site, the faster you'll be able to get info. Good luck to all

My son is leaving on the 3rd. I am nervous and proud. We had his going away party yesterday and had 75 ppl attend to send him off it was VERYtouching to see so many come out to support him.
Your name made me smile because I am also a wrestling mom.
That is tooo funny. I have another son that wrestles in hs.
Where are you from?  We are from Michigan.  Grant is a three year state placer.  Pretty proud of that accomplishment.  Not sure how that's going to help at boot camp - but hopefully the work ethic will come in handy.  :-)
Hello Wrestlingmom my boyfriend also left today Aug 3 as well. It has been alot harder then expected. How are you handling it.
Good morning everyone! This is my second round with boot camp. My first son is now a Petty officer, I went through this 2 years ago and now I find myself here again. I thought I would go into this like a champ......No, didn't happen! lol My son left yesterday and I am still in tears today. It never gets easier, but the next few months will be very exciting and challenging. You will be amazed at how many wonderful friends you will make here for a lifetime. If there is anything that I can help you with let me know. We will have some good times and we will be here to support eachother. The night our future sailors have Battle stations will be a long night for all of us, it is very emotional and we will all shed a few tears together. The first letters take a couple of weeks, but wow when we all start recieving them it is a fantastic event! I look forward to meeting all of you! Hang in there, be strong, and remember we are all here to help eachother!

So off he went yesterday from Michigan.  Hopped in the van and they were on their way.  It was a long day and emotional for all the families waiting.  Got my call at about 5:30 p.m. last night which made me feel better.  I'm glad it is finally here and the day is over.  I know that I will spend these next few weeks just wondering what is happening, but now that I know he is there and working it makes me feel better.  Looking at the weather it is soooo hot in Chicago - that worries me a little.  Now we wait for our "boxes".
