My sons recruiter called me yesterday and gave me my sons division over the phone, but i havent received the letter yet, only the box.  I was hopeful it would arrive today, but the mail came and went, and no letter.  Maybe tomorrow?

Made hotel and airline reservations today for PIR. I'm feeling better since I got my son's letter and know some details and can finally do something!
Hello everyone. A kind heart gave me this link and im thrilled to join and meet everyone. My daughter Morgan is Ship 07/Div 345. Her ship date was 8/22  She is Aviation Boatswain Mate. We are from Roanoke Texas. I got "the box" monday 8/28 and my first "form letter" tuesday 8/29. I have a few letters to send her already. What kinds of things have you all decided on writting about? I figured general day to day stuff. No need to tell her im a blubbering idiot without her. Im looking forward to getting to know everyone!

Kimmer Welcome!

Make sure you also post a "Hello" on the main page. All of the veteran moms, (moms who have been through PIR already and have stayed on to "pay it forward" LOL) are on there to answer your questions...as well as the rest of the moms/GF/wives/families who belong to the whole training group who are on N4M's.

Then here in the Discussion Forums is where you will meet those who are in your SHIP/DIV. ALl the ship/div make up the whole TG (Training Group)

Please look at the Boot Camp video and it will direct you to the "Pages" section. Here you will find a lot of helpful information.

As far as what to write? Anything and everything! You got it...stuff about home day to day upbeat encouraging info! The Letter Writing, Jokes and Fun Stuff... and Boot Camp Questionnaires will help you...plus all the great ideas from the ladies here!

Have fun!

Oh and please make sure you read Community Guidelines and OPSEC (Operational Security). It will instruct you about safety in posting on the site and the rules about no last names. Plus, an explanation about why we suggest not using your SR first name and/or pic. It is ALWAYS your choice of course ('cept the last name thing...never allowed), we are just here to guide and help you!

Welcome Kimmer! My son is also in your daughters division :) I have sent his facebook, lol i printed it out so he can see who has been writing on his wall, also copy and pasted about the earthquake we had and Hurricaine Irene :) I think i am repeating alot in my letters but im sure he will be happy just to read them lol

I also made my hotel reservations :) Staying at the navy lodge!

Kimmer you should join us on facebook!

I think I found a few of you on fb and send a friend request thanks to the amazing Margie. Thats a great idea to print out the fb page I know my daughter would appreciate getting to see that also. There was a tragedy with  one of her close friends this week however, I am not going to share upsetting news with her until after she gets thru the training. I hope thats the right decision. I cant imagine any more outside stress on them in addition to what they are already dealing with. We are planning on arriving Thursday if you all would like to have a dinner gtg the evening before PIR my family would love to meet with yours. I wanted to ask you all, I noticed that there was a section on the form letter that listed 4 to attend PIR. Is there a limit to who can attend? Wouldnt you know we have a large family and of course everyone wants to be there. Thanks in advance.

Yes...definitley wait until after graduation. It is the right decision. I am so sorry that this has happened.

There is a Meet and Greet for families of Sailors graduating every week at the Ramada in Waukegan. The Ramada does this gratis as far as food goes (heavy finger foods). Those staying at the Ramada recieve a voucher for two drinks. There is a cash bar and they do not mind if you bring in a water or soft drink. This event takes place the night before PIR. It is from 6-8 PM. You do not have to be a guest to attend.

Here is the link to Meet and Greet for info and to RSVP:

PIR 10-14-11 Meet and Greet

You can still plan a private get together before or after with families that you would like to meet! Many do!

The four that your Sailor have on your form letter are guaranteed entry into PIR.

I have heard it said that you may bring others and they may wait in the visitors center (USS Yorktown - this is the building you enter before Midway Hall and has the security check and where you get your hand stamped) and if there is room then extra guests will be allowed entry. Will need to double check this.

If this is still allowed...I do not know at what time they determine this. I'll ask.

Make sure everyone has the proper ID. Goverment issued photo ID, SS card or Birth certificate.

My goodness you have such great info. I appaud you for being so resourceful. You surely make this alot easier on the rest of us. I cant wait to meet you in person and give you a hug.

You are sweet! Thank you!

Kimmer I would love to meet you...all of you too! Unfortunately, I am not in your PIR group. My Sailor PIR'd back in May. I chose to stay on the site, as many of us do, to "pay it forward". Believe me it helps me too...knowing that I can just help a little bit and for myself...sanity! I also have a Hubby in the Air Force reserves and he was deployed to Iraq when our son enlisted and went off to BC. So this site helped me feel "connected" that way too.

So here is a virtual ((HUG))!

This is from the RTC FAQ page on Guests at PIR:

Q.
How many guests per recruit are allowed to attend Pass-In-Review?
A.

Four seats are guaranteed per recruit; however, children 12 years old and younger do not count against the four-guest maximum. The graduating recruit is responsible for identifying those individuals to be placed on the access list. Please coordinate with your recruit via letters regarding who will be on the access list. No additions, deletions or changes will be made to the access list the week of graduation. The four guests on the access list will be admitted into the ceremonial drill hall first. Additional guests not on the access list will have to wait inside the Visitor Center until after the start of the ceremony at which time they will be allowed into the ceremonial hall if additional seating is available as space permits. No additional seating can be guaranteed.  PLEASE DO NOT CALL FOR ADDITIONAL SEATS.  All visitors must have valid photo identification. This requirement includes children (school ID, Social Security card or copy of birth certificate). Please be aware that security may deny base admission to guests NOT on the access list if they are not accompanied by a guest who is on the access list.

I would also wait to tell her :( so sad to hear though.... I hope i have all of you on facebook if not please request me!!
