This is just a basic replacement thread for the Bush.  It is now deployed.  Maryellen and some other HAE crew got to hand deliver the bulk of the pillowcases to the sailors before they left for deployment!!

Comment by Maryellen yesterday
This was done by one of The Bush moms, get the tissues out you'll need them.

Here is an e-mail I received from one of the care package recipients on the USS George H.W. Bush.

Hello,

This is Txxx, I got your package yesterday, and just wanted to say thank you. I enjoyed everything in their and liked a lot of it so no worries on weather or not I wold like it or not. And actually I think that your son is connected to us out here on the bush… ive only been out here about a month but it is fun getting to go around to different places. Your son seems too be very lucky that your so supportive of him being in the navy. Ill try and send you a picture as soon as I get a chance, I liked yours tho.

I have to go do some work but I just wanted to send you a quick message and say thank you.

                                                                        Thank you,

                                                                        Txxx
Did any of you see the shout out on the Bush's FB page this morning from Tyler Snodgrass? He's one of the sailors that got one of my pc's. So excited!!
Another happy recipient on the Bush.

Dear Birdie,

Yesterday I opened up a pillowcase that was one of the many that the Navy Mom made for us while we are on deployment. I have been in the Navy for a little over 5 years and I have to say the thing that keeps me going is knowing of the support that we have back home. I know that our paths may never cross but I would like to thank you and the rest of the Navy Moms for the continuing support you have gave to us while we out to sea or out doing our jobs. I take comfort in know there are those who support us when we are defending our freedom!

God Bless You!

Here are three pc's I'm sending to a chief on the Bush. I previously offered to send pc's to his children, since he mentioned them in a thank you letter he sent me. I received an e-mail from his last weekend and he said he would love to have one for each of his kids. He wanted me to send them to him, so he can send them to his kids for their birthdays. Apparently on this deployment he's going to miss all of them.

This is the rag quilt I made for the fourth child of one of the chiefs on the Bush. Since his youngest son is only 9 months old, he is way too young for a pillowcase.

great work on all Birdie.
I love this quilt, very nice!!!

If you are linked to the Bush's FB page, take a look at the new pics they posted today. One is of Tanya Schmitt, who happens to be a recipient of care packages I sent to some of the sailors. I've been corresponding with her since early summer and have sent her a few more boxes of goodies. She's such a sweet and grateful person. I love her. Getting ready to send her another box, as soon as I can get some more items rounded up.

got a thank you note, I wrote back and asked what they look like and he responded with a description.  anyone recognize these?

Citrus Council Girl Scouts of Orlando, FL,

Greetings from the USS George H W Bush CVN-77, I am AO1 (AW/SW) Robert XXXXXXXXX of Edgewater, FL I am the Leading Petty Officer of the G-1 Division in Weapons Department. I would like to take this time and opportunity to personally thank each one of you for the pillow cases that you made and sent to us. It is this simple gesture of kindness that reminds our young Sailors that there is someone that is proud of the service that they provide. You definitely put a smile on their faces! We have been deployed for five of our seven months now. We are nearing the end of our long and hot deployment. Believe me when I tell you that there is nothing better than climbing up into our racks at night and going to sleep having a soft, clean and beautiful place to lay our heads. It is definitely a reminder of home especially when you compare it to the standard US NAVY issued coarse pillow case. I have attached our recent Weapons Department Photo and once again I thank each of you for your prayers and thoughts.

Thanks for your continued support.

Birdie,
How have you been? Long time no talk. A while back I received one of your pillow cases. I wanted to email you from the ship to keep you up to date on how im doing, but I forgot to write your email down so could email you. We did good on our maiden deployement. There was some s scarey moments, but those are where ever you go right? My wife and daughter are doing fine. Im spending my leave with them. My daughter has gotten so big! I am looking forward to spending christmas with my girls. Your pillow case kept my head at rest and at ease at the end of the day. The eagles and the sky on the pillow case kept reminding me why I was doing what I was doing at the time. Defending the freedoms of our wonderful country. I just want to thank you once again for the plillow case that kept me motivated and moving on in the struggles and hardships of a deployement. Thank you and merry christmas
