My sons recruiter called me yesterday and gave me my sons division over the phone, but i havent received the letter yet, only the box.  I was hopeful it would arrive today, but the mail came and went, and no letter.  Maybe tomorrow?

Hello All-

My daughter is in Ship 07 Div 345. Got "the box", the form letter, and found our first letter from her in the mailbox yesterday! The time seems to go slow but actually is flying by! I can't wait to get to Great Lakes for the pass-in-review! I am going to begin investigating travel plans this afternoon. The magnitude of information is a bit overwhelming, but there is something I have not been able to find. Supposedly we will have access to the base and our recruits the day before pass-in-review for a "family day". Has anyone received any information on this? Looking forward to sharing with you guys, it's nice to find the fellow families whose kids are stationed with mine!

Welcome Austinhardy,

Wonderful that you found us here. There are some awesome moms on here that you will enjoy getting to know. My daughter Morgan is also 07/345. Our PIR is 14oct11. I can not wait to see my girl again and hug her neck. This millitary experience has been an adjustment for me. I look forward to getting to know you more. If you are on FB we would love to have you join our group.

Welcome Austinhardy!! My son is also in 7/345!! join us all on facebook!!!

Just thought I would give you my insite to PIR since I am supporting a young lady who is in this ship and division who is friends with my son who is currently in San Diego. When we attended his PIR in Great Lakes in May we learned that the best way to get to PIR is via Taxi. They charge a flat rate from the hotels to the gate. If I recall it was like $20.00 one way. They know when PIR is over and they come right  back and pick you up. The guards around the base are very helpful and are very willing to help you. When I was there the base was on lock down due to the fact that we just got Bin Laden but my son has told me that the security status had went down prior to him leaving GL in August. It is important to get to PIR early that morning if you want to sit in front of your SR's division. If you have questions, I would be happy to help you as we also lived there for 12 years prior to moving to Texas.

Welcome austinhardy my daughter is 7/345. If you find out anything about this family day let us know. I know the Army does it (friend of the family is on their way home right now form their sons graduation). Through all my reading on this site and the Recruit Training Command page on FB I have not seen anything about a family day. The other five of us have friended each other on FB I can send you my FB name in a private message if you would like to join us.

Welcome austinhardy!!  Our small family is growing !!  My son is also in 07/345.  Where did you hear about family day?
Welcome austinhardy! So glad you found us! I have made hotel & flight reservations. Will reserve car closer to PIR. You will find TONS of information on this site.
My son is also 07/345...I am sooo looking forward to PIR....I did a tour in the Navy quite a long time ago...I have to say, there are some moments when it sucks being on this side of boot camp & PIR! At least when he is in a school he will be closer so I can pop down and see him!

Welcome jojo. We are a small group but it is great to have someone else join us. I wish I could pop down and see my daughter. We are all on fb also. I will send you my address in a private message.
