For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed. Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.
**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.

In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

Hello everyone,
I am new here. My 21 year old son (my baby) left for the Navy today. I am so very proud for him ! But the other side of that coin, I miss him like crazy already.
He is very strong and will do well. He and I are very close.
Dear lord, this is so hard.... I just cannot quit thinking about them being in his face, yelling at him, belittling him, making him feel stupid.... I know he will be fine and I know he will be a much stronger individual after he does this, I know this is the best thing for him..... I guess I am taking it hard...
Anyway, I know I am rambling.. sorry :(
Even though I dont sound like it right now, I am VERY excited for him and his future . :)

It doesn't look like the address that the recruiter gave me. I would call his recruiter and get it ;)

We got our box yesterday (10-27) as well. It was bittersweet. I'm positive the return address is only the recruit processing building and not the address to mail him since it has no division number or ship name on it (barracks are named for ships). I'm assuming at "the box" stage of things they are still in processing "p week" which doesn't count as bootcamp yet. Thankfully they are in a push division so things are going faster. The form letter with the actual address to write him will come next. Can't wait!!!! BTW, I'm not unrolling the cuffs of those pants. I want him to tell me about it when he sees them so that he can look back on how far he's come. :)

Mine didn't send his shoes or pants or boxers?? Maybe he donated them lol. His ship name is USS Kearsarge let me know if any of your sons are in USS Kearsarge barracks.

I haven't received my box yet, but I am looking forward to it with mixed feelings. I know that sounds dumb, but the phone call saying he was there reminded me of the fact that he will only be coming home for visits now and not to live. I want the box, don't get me wrong, I am just having a hard time dealing with the fact that he is truly a young man starting his adult life. I am so proud of him. I wish I were acting as brave as he is. I know I sound silly, but I guess I just didn't realize how hard this would be.

My son also left on the 24th, and I've been concerned about the PIR date, worried that the holidays would push things back. I'm excited to hear that it may actually get pushed up instead of back. Not gonna get my hopes up too much, but it's a nice thought.

Hi Lucyw29. My son left on the 24th too. He is my second son to go to the Navy so I have been here before. It is extremely tough on us moms, but hang in there. Your son will do just fine. I thought it would be easier to deal with since this is my second go round, but it wasn't. I'm not a pro or anything, but I will try to answer any questions that you have. If I don't know the answer, between us, we'll find the answer. Congrats.

I ran across something that told me about the 900 Div and how when some recruits get to boot camp, if they are tall and slender they could be asked to be part of "some" group that is stationed in Washington D.C. (I think) . I cannot figure out where I saw this and was wanting to find it and read it again.
Would you have any idea what I am talking about. Thanks in advance for your help. I have been looking all day.

My son also left on the 24th. Just got his box today. Lovely- stinky clothes to wash. Haha. I could not be more happy for the path he has chosen, but I do find myself thinking about him and what he is doing or going through at that moment. Counting down til I get that
first letter. Congrats to all the moms who are going through this new phase of our lives. This seems to be a great site for us to connect and praise our children for their great accomplishments. Chat when yall can and believe me you will feel so much better about everything. I went through this anxious-worry mom thing last year at this time, my oldest son was just graduating from Marine bootcamp. It is not easy but sites like this are a god-send.

my son also went to bootcamp the other day (10/26)
and i still cant get rid of this lump in my throat
i cried the whole week before he left and now
well its worse. He is 19 and had been in deps for
6 months and it seemed to have flown by toooo
fast. i have 3 other kids they are all close
and when they all was saying goodbye it
was so heartbreaking to see!! its amazing that it takes
our babies to protect this country and even others. but
this is what he wants to do and i am proud of him but
extremely heart broken

My son also left on the 26th. Seeing my husband break down was hard for me. Where did their youth go, They will come home grown men. Still have not gotten the "box" yet. My day is filled with thoughts of what he is doing wish I could be a fly on the wall. Thank God for this web site and having other mom's to listen.
