Hello everyone,

I am new here. My 21 year old son (my baby) left for the Navy today. I am so very proud for him !  But the other side of that coin, I miss him like crazy already.

He is very strong and will do well. He and I are very close.

Dear lord, this is so hard.... I just cannot quit thinking about them being in his face, yelling at him, belittling him, making him feel stupid.... I know he will be fine and I know he will be a much stronger individual after he does this, I know this is the best thing for him..... I guess I am taking it hard...

Anyway, I know I am rambling.. sorry  :(

Even though I dont sound like it right now,  I am VERY excited for him and his future .  :)

Margie  I think that is the worst part.  It seems like they are just GONE!  Tlaking to them everyyday, then nothing. I focus on the fact that they are safe and well taken care of.

I do sleep better knowing that he is in bed by 10:00 and not out driving around town. Like he said before he left, I will be safer then all of you guys!

He is right.  We had snow last weekend and was not stressed like usual because I knew she was not driving in it.  It is the lack of contact that is hard, but I know it is necessary.
Thank you, this site and all the wonderful, helpful parents/families have helped me a lot..
I cannot believe some have already had snow and quite a bit of it.

Hi all,

The mail arrived and still no letter... :(     I was all excited because there was a package with his name on it but it turns out it was something for his boss  he had ordered before he left . Heart breaking!!!

I know how you feel, got my box of clothes Tues. was hoping for my letter today, anyone know how long that will take? It's been a week today since he left, time is not going by fast I think it has slowed down.
my daughter left last Wednesday, got the call Wednesday night, the letter Monday and the box Tuesday.  From what I understand, (veteran moms help me out) they won't send the letter until they are assigned a division.  Just remember, not news is good news.
Got my letter today. It was so good to hear from him. :)

was it a short letter with graduation info or a regular letter. I only got a paragraph with formal paperwork so far

Lucy, My son is in the same Div as yours. I am in Walnut, Southern Cali. Where are you. I am missing him like crazy. I received a letter (paragraph) on Saturday about the adopt a sailor for Thanksgiving. I am flying out on Wed before Thanksgiving to spend the 10 hours with him. He hates the yelling and cussing, something he is not used to in our house. I miss him so much but try not to sho wit because of his sister. What I have been doing since he left is walking every morning at 6 a.m. That is my time to meditate with God and pray for him. It has relieved some stress and gives me peace of mind. I figure if he can get up so early to defend our country I can too and take care of myself Hope to hear more from you and those in Ship 02 Div 905. Peace to all. Janet, a proud Mom
Janet we all have received the info letter about graduation and a brief paragrah so far, within the next week we should be getting a real letter (depending if your son likes to write) I never received anything on adopt a sailor  maybe he isnt entitled to leave he grad. 12/29. So agree with the exercise I started running again the day he left, he and I always did workouts I feel closer to him knowing that we are both still exercising of course his is alot more intense. You are fortunate to be able to see him at Thanksgiving you two will enjoy this time together...Michelle
