Hi everyone..I've been off this site for a little while. I tend to spend more time on the FB site for some reason, and then I get really tired.  My daughter writes each week on Sunday and my "Mail Day" is Thursday.  Sounds like a lot of the SR's have taken on some type of leadership role.  My daughter is in charge of the bathroom.  Our family thinks it's just perfect, considering how she kept her bathroom!  She said it was awful at first, but lately she is getting how to do it the "right" way and pretty fast.  She has a sinus infection, but otherwise, doing well.  She says a lot of the girls have terrible coughs.  She also said she has passed her PFA.  Her challenge is the classes.  She was never very academic and having to really listen in the classes when she is really tired is difficult.  She has sent me some quotes that the RDC's say to the SR's and they are so funny.....She said she had to learn how to "not smile" when they yelled something silly the hard way.  Guess it's their way of training them to really stand at attention and to listen properly.  She also said that she can shower and be fully dressed in 7 minutes. Unbelievable.  No one in my family would have guessed that.

I received 2 phone calls.  The first one came 1-2 days after the division got to call because she was on watch.  The 2nd call came last Saturday.  I think it was a privilege??  She tried several numbers, and by the time she tried my personal cell phone (which I answered), she had wasted 8 of her 10 minutes, but it was nice to hear her voice for 2 minutes.  I assume my next phone call will be after Battlestations unless the DIV gets another privilege.

I am so excited to see everyone on December 2nd and to see her in uniform.  Since she is staying in GL for A School, I believe we get lucky and are able to spend Saturday & Sunday (daytime) with her.

The past week has been much easier than the weeks prior.  I still think of her all day, but I'm much more at peace with her being gone.  Since she is the baby of 4 kids, it's been different than her siblings.  Both of my boys were in the military and you'd think I'd be "old hat" at this, but with each child it's different.  One son was even in the Navy!  Oh well, I guess some things never really get easier.

I'm happy for you that you've gotten to talk to your daughter.  We've gotten only one phone call, and my husband was the only one around to talk to her.  He really needed to hear her voice, so if it had to be one of us... I'm glad he was the one.

We have gotten several letters.  She seems stressed out all the time, but I can also tell she is gaining strength and confidence.  Yeah, I would never have thought my daughter could shower and dress in 7 minutes or even make her bed every day.  Amazing!  My Kindergarten class sent a letter with all kinds of questions for her to answer.  We finally heard back from her today.  The students were so excited.  She told them that the best thing about bootcamp is all the friends she has made.

I'm very excited about Dec. 2 too.  Quite honestly, I can't stop thinking about it.

I was reading on some of the other sites.  One of them was A school in SA.  One of the questions, was do they get leave for Christmas during A School.  The answer was yes they can take a week or two.  That made my day.  i sure hope that is true.  Hope everyone is doing ok.  I sure wish we would get a phone call from our SR.  Has anyone recieved any new letters?  Well hope everyone has a good night.

I am praying for it too.... I wish we could also know when they fly out from Great Lackes. It seems like most leave on Sunday and all we will get it Saturday. Christmas would be awesome but they will have to use up all leave and maybe go negative in the leave days!

I'm praying for a letter today....

I'm not sure if this works for everyone, but before my daughter left for bootcamp her recruiter told her she could spend some time at the local recruiting office and not have to use as many of her leave days.

Wow. Great idea. Maybe we can look into that. I know that when my daughter was in DEP a sailor came back from BC and was in her camos in the office and spent some time with her. Shed love to do that!

Hi moms,

If you are not already on here - here is the link to the Facebook page.  It is a closed group and we share more "details" about our SR's.  I have seen some 07/009 but not many :(

Thank you for the information.  Good reminder.  I am already a member there too.  I just posted a comment on the facebook page last night about how few of us (on both of these sites) seem to be from Div 009.  I get excited when I do get a little information about how they are doing.

Thanks, I just sent a request. Graduation is getting closer everyday. I haven;t heard from my son but he has written to his Gmothers and my oldest daughter. 17 more days!!!! See you at Great Lakes.

Got a letter today!  I usually have to wait until Thursday for my mail day.  They must've allowed her to write in the middle of the week??  Anyway, so nice to hear from her.  She is definitely adjusting but still scared to be ASMOD....(sent home).  She also said that the SR's don't call graduation PIR.  She said we can say "graduation".  I thought that was cute.  All my cards and letters have noted PIR as her graduation date.  Anyone else get an unschedule letter or call?
