For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed. Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.
**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.
**UPDATE 7/29/2021** You now must be fully vaccinated in order to attend PIR:
In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

Hi there..my son arrived at GL on December 6th...got the "im here" phone call...no box yet...just waiting...anyone else have a loved one leave for GL on the 6th..I would love to find a few of us to keep in touch and swap stories of their progression...take care

My son left on the 6th too. Got a 50 sec phone call which actually made me laugh not cry because it was pretty much word for word from what Insaw on a YouTube video of BC. Got the box on Friday and got his ship/div from his recruiter too. Ship 07 Div 059. Hope everyone is hanging in there it's tough but I hear it does get easier! :). So thankful for N4M you all have been a huge blessing!
One thing that really helped me out was to watch videos on YouTube, just type in Navy Boot Camp and a bunch of videos pop up. It was really nice to see how the process works. -

I am doing well. It didn't really hit me until this morning when I pulled out the Sunday Funny and started reading it. I miss hearing his laugh. I will just send the funnies to him, so he can have a little entertainment there. How about you? You dealing with this alright? Have you received your son's PIR date yet? I am so anxious for that, so I can start counting down the days.

Hello, my son arrived at GL on Dec. 6th as well. We rec the phone call at 1140 pm and his box two days later. We were wondering about why his pants were rolled up. I had to ask his girlfriend if it was maybe a secret code that the two of them came up with. She laughed and said no. Just waiting for his letter to arrive. I have been doing well so far. I think because I know he is safe and doing what he wanted. Looking forward to reading all the updates.

Ours son pants came rolled up also, they have them roll them up to get a proper fit for their boots. We also wondered why when we got the box.

Hope u get his box soon Chrissey..should get it Monday for sure..ours came Friday..hoping to get the letter by Wed..I'm going to start some letters now so they will be ready to mail out as soon as I get the address! I have a found a bunch of great links to Bootcamp info on here and watched a video of the Great Lakes graduaTion ..so amazing and awe inspiring!! I also heard the graduation pics(full dress uniform) are taken during the fourth week and we have to purchase them before Bootcamp is over!
