My son left for bootcamp on Wednesday and I've been crying off and on ever since.  I feel so lost not beling able to call him, FB him or contact hm in any way.  I never thought it would be this difficult.  I'm really struggling. I'm not worried about his safety, just feel so disconnected, like he's gone forever.  He is my firstborn too, maybe that's it?   I don't know, but he reached this milestone that I feel like I wasn't prepared for.  Anyone else feel like that?

What site are you looking at for the pix?  I looked last night and couldn't find any!! My son is in Div 914.. No phone call, no letters yet... SOOOOOOOO anxious!!

On Facebook, search U.S. Navy Recruit Training Center or Command (can't remember which). They have photos across the top of the page. If I had to guess, it's photos of the groups closer to graduation, but we can still keep looking for them

I GOT A LETTER TODAY!! I dropped all the other mail when I saw it!! He is doing good, misses all of us though!  It was great to see his handwriting, but he did say he should be able to call in a couple days!! YAY!! Can't wait!!

leesa when does he graduate? There is a PIR group for you to join that will offer you lots of info and support

Hi CBsMom,

What day did your son leave as I'm trying to figure out our son's PIR date? Thanks, Elaine

ehuds...if your son left on the 10th or 11th than he is most likely in the 3/2 PIR group. You should get the form letter soon. You can call the recruiter for the address but that address is only the temporary one and may not be right but most likely if you get the div # it will be correct and you can figure out the PIR date from that.

I'm thinking, if he left on the 10th or 11th, he will be in the PIR 3/9 group. My daughter is in the 3/2 group, and she left on the 3rd. We all got our letters a week and a half ago.

Thank you

Thanks

My Son also left for bootcamp on Wednesday I know exactly how you feel.  I have never cried so much in my life he is my only son and has been attatched to my hip for 19 yrs.  I have already recieved his box and I have a graduation date,  but I have not recieved a letter from him yet I am looking so faward to it.  It is so hard not being able to talkt to him.  Everything has to get better though I am just looking foward to his graduation and seeing him even thought just for a few hours.

My son just left yesterday, Jan. 18 out of Cleveland, Ohio.  He's 23, and didn't live at home, and he's my youngest.  I have been through the heartache of seeing each of my 3 kids leave home for college, and now Navy.  I agree that is is the hardest with the first one!  It takes some time to get adjusted to the empty room and not having them nearby.  All I can say is that it will get easier once he is in school and you will have more freedom for phone calls, skype, and visiting.

I am new to military life and rules and that is why I joined this (my son told me about it because I was so concerned!)  I hope to chat with other mom's and keep up with all the information I may need to know.  Hoping to drive to graduation...it's a bit of a drive, and not sure yet where to stay or anything about it.  I have never been to that area...Chicago.  My son's girlfriend is very distraught.   She cries and cries.

I just hope that the kids all are doing well in bootcamp and staying healthy and happy.  I worry about illness, and don't want my son to be sad or upset.  That's a mom talking.  I worry more about how he feels, than how I feel.  Just want the best for all of them!  Good luck ladies!  Many, many mom's and dad's have been through this over the years.  I think deployment on a ship or sub will be the hardest of all!  I'm happy for him, and very proud...but it's not  going to be the same without him here.  Pray for peace~~no war!

Thanks for your information.  I haven't looked into hotels or anything.  I maybe should start looking.  It seems like maybe these are huge crowds at the PIR??  Is it one of those things where you have trouble finding a place to park and sit unless you get there bright and early??  I'm not so good with big crowds...lol.
