So the form letter FINALLY came today and now we know that our loved ones have a PIR date of 3/16. Anyone else out there? I need to start looking at hotels and plane tickets. I was trying to hold off until we had the actual date.

I got my letter yesterday and booked my flight and room today. I paid $280 per person on United from San Diego and we're staying at the Navy Lodge on Base. There are nice places in Waukegan but it's a bit of a drive from the city if you planned in doing any sightseeing.
I just got my letter today. It was great to finally hear from him. We decided to drive the 1200 + miles... it will be cheaper for us I think. Making hotel reservations tonight.
My SR is in this division. Hope to meet some of you at PIR. Keep the hotel info coming--I haven't made reservations yet.
Woohoo! Got the form letter today. Confirms I'm in the right forum! SR says he's doing fine. Can't wait to get all these letters sent!
our letter finally came today, nice to know he's in the 3/16 group for sure. Didn't expect to get teary at the sight of his handwriting, but it's great to finally hear from him and have an address to send letters to. Heard about La Quinta in Gurnee, IL from another mom on the site, thinking of staying there, price looks pretty good. It'll feel good to get all our travel arrangements made! Can't wait for 3/16!
Hi, Nice to meet up with others in the 03/089 group! We are driving from Cleveland...still waiting to find out who is coming with us. Since it's a large group graduating, we don't know if we want to bring extras in case they can't get in. I booked 2 rooms, but having second thoughts. It's in Lincolnshire...not sure if that's too far or what? It's closer to O'hare in case our son flies out of there for A school, and also it's closer to out way home. No shuttle service, though... Excited and nervous about driving up to Chicago. Heard there is tons of traffic, and not looking forward to that! Plus that Saturday is St. Paddy's Day!
We are driving from Texas. We made our reservations at Ramada in Gurnee. I'm not sure what airport my son will be flying out of but he goes to Florida next. I have never been to the Chicago area before, so this will be an adventure for sure!
Long drive! We are flying in from Washington state and arriving Wednesday. Just to make sure we are there for the graduation in case of weather. We are staying at the Country Inn and Suites in Gurnee.
We are arriving Thursday from San Diego and leaving Monday with hopes of being able to spend additional time with him but if not it's fine because we're originally from Chicago so we have tons to do. Make sure you try to get to the city and check out some of the restautants.....excellent food in Chicago!!!
Where in Texas are you driving from? How long is the drive?
