Thanks for the link Jaimers! Not too much luck with info from SWCC moms or wives but this forum alone has been such a blessing! :)

11 days to go...

No phone calls to any of our four phones... :(  Just a continuance of my horrible weekend here.  But tomorrow will be the start of a beautiful week ahead as I can feel it!!!  Did your hubby happen to tell you ever what day count he was on in any of his letters?  My son did, so I have a good guess at when BS could be, but not quite sure.  It was way back on April 5th.  I was so hoping for a call this week but think it could possibly still be a week away.

No day count on his letters! :( Hopefully this week's mail will bring a wealth of information! ;)

My son graduated 4/13/2012. He is waiting for your sons and daughters who have contracted to be divers to join the group. We had about 15 minutes with our son after PIR before he had to go back to his ship to move to the next barracks. About 3 hours later he called for us to pick him up. (make sure he has a phone card). After picking him up , he was able to have his phone. We went back to the hotel for him to decompress. He changed into his boxers, called some buddies, but mainly just wanted to share some experiences with us. We ate dinner at the hotel. He then took a nap before heading back to base. He didn't have to be back until 10, but he wanted us to get him back by 9. This is the son who did not know what a clock looked like! The next day we were able to pick him up at 6:30 am, so we went into Chicago. What fun! Again, he didn't have to be back until 10. Sunday was the same.
Our friends, whose son contracted to be a rescue swimmer, were able to be with their son immediately after PIR, while we had to wait. They went to the airport Saturday morning to be with their son before he left for Pensacola.
I got my son white boxers. He rolled his eyes when he saw the monogram on the hem. I came real close to having them monogrammed with the days of the week!

LOL Bobs mom .... too funny ....

@ Cor ... that was one of Bubby's request that and his compression shorts .... ? will he need his goggles or will they issue at pre-buds ?

Thanks Cor ... we will pack goggles also.......

lol hmmmm i dont know.... compression shorts or girls scout cookies .... thats a tough one lol

Bob said that the Navy issues goggles.

Good morning Ladies, I am reading that it is a 30 minute walk from the gate to the ceremony.  My husband had a hip replacement and I'm not sure if he can do all that walking.  Does anyone know if there is a shuttle for this type of situation?

Appreciate any help in this direction. Have a Blessed Day!!

JMom,

If you have access to a car, I'd get your husband's doctor to give him a temporary handicapped parking pass.  We parked in the parking deck.  If I recall, there were handicapped parking spaces on the bottom level.  It was an easy, short, five minute stroll into the Hall.  The folks at RTC were very helpful the day of PIR.  The 800 division is seated on the far end of the Hall from the parking deck.

Here is the number for the Public Affairs office.  It would be worth a call to find out if they suggest other options.

Bob's mom & Cor

Thanks for the info.  I will definitely give them a call.Seems as though the shuttle will be the easiest. tick,tick,tick.....can't wait. any of you going to the meet and greet at Ramada or staying at the Quality Inn?
