My son is in Division 937 and I am already so excited to attend PIR. Has anyone made their hotel reservations yet or am I the only one so anxious she did it BEFORE receiving the official letter?
So far I've only received the "I got here call" and "the box." Reminded me of birth -- naked they came into civilian life and naked they left it for the Navy :)
What a journey we are all on together!

Guess What!!!! I just got a letter so be watching your mailboxes!! He is doing great!!! He is with SHIP 13 DIV 229. He said his RDC's are considered the toughest on base but he has made friends with several of the men in his division. That should make it better... It was so good to hear from him and so far he is on target to graduate on the 27th of July! He has passed all tests on his first try and is a section leader too. May God continue to watch over our sons and daughters and carry them through the next 6 weeks! OH and he said to KEEP WRITING!!!!!
SOOOO proud for you!!!!! That's great to hear!!! I can't wait to hear from my daughter. I write her everyday!!! I'm so happy you heard from him!!!
I really enjoy reading all these posts, makes me worry a little less about not receiving a phone call yet. Our daughter was also a singer in high school so I am really happy she was placed in this division. She turned 19 just 9 days before she was sworn in! Just thinking about seeing her singing in a navy uniform gives me goosebumps! There are 6 of us traveling from Wyoming and we are taking a little extra time there because none of us have been there. We will be attending the meet and greets and might even try to take in the Ramada and Sarges. I think I read somewhere that when they go to A school that they can have their cell phones and computers, does anyone know if this is true? I think I will pack them just in case. July 27th can't get here quick enough!!!
Hi Wyoming! Honk on your way through Omaha :)
I think our Recruits will be able to tell us if they can have their cell phones and computers. it won't hurt to bring it...we just might bring them right back home :)
Where are you staying? We're at the Navy Lodge.
I'm right there with you on the performing thing. Can't wait to see if our son will be singing or drumming or what! He's great at both -- it should be awe inspiring. Our son is 25. Went to college, worked and toyed with the military idea for a couple years and decided he HAD to do it or he'd forever regret it. He was SO ready to go. I think he'll take full advantage of the opportunities he'll have.
What rating is your daughter. Our son is an HM -- his A school is in San Antonio.
My Nephew just went through his PIR and is going to "A" school in Fl he didnt take his computer, but cant get ahold of his mom to ask if that was because they didnt take it or what hmmm i will try and find that out.
Omaha~~we were Papillion/LaVista!!!! Dad was stationed there!!! He has gone back to visit and has said I wouldn't even recognize it anymore!!! And he's from MN, someone said they were from there it has left my ever lovin brain though lol he's in Wadena now born and raised in Deer Creek, Henning sure is a small world!!!
Ok, Lisa, this is CRAZY -- Wadena -- I was born and raised in Staples, just down Highway 10 from Wadena. How small IS this world?
Yes, Omaha is ever changing. It's really a great city and getting better. I work for the Chamber of Commerce, so naturally I'd think that :)
You have got to be kidding me LOL it IS a small world. He goes up there every summer, then heads back south for the winter!! It's unreal haha Just got an e mail from Sarge~~he IS cheaper than any taxi and what not. He will get you from any hotel in surrounding area, some are free and a couple are a few dollars. My middle daughter and I are at the Ramada, and it's 12 bucks from there. I don't think thats bad at all!!!!! We are going to try and make it to both for sure Sarge though!!! I can't wait to meet all of you!!!
Hi OmahaRudy!
My daughter will be heading to San Antonio for A school for HM also! I asked her recruiter if she will be leaving right away on Saturday. He was not sure..said he would try to find out. I'm thinking she will be leaving right away on Saturday...Sad!
Your daughter and my son are in the same division and have the same rating. NICE! Friends. From everything I've read it does sound like they leave the next day. On some other board (who knows where) someone else's son who is an HM and graduated two weeks ago has to wait 2 to 4 months for A school to start! Maybe that means our kids won't have to wait so long! I hope that's true.
I don't think they will have to wait for A school to start. The only reason I say that is if I remember correctly, my daughter said she could not be on the delayed entry program any longer than she was if she wanted 'a spot' in the HM A school. Who knows! Can't wait for the letter from her or PIR! So proud of all these men and women!
