For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

My son is in Division 937 and I am already so excited to attend PIR. Has anyone made their hotel reservations yet or am I the only one so anxious she did it BEFORE receiving the official letter?
So far I've only received the "I got here call" and "the box." Reminded me of birth -- naked they came into civilian life and naked they left it for the Navy :)
What a journey we are all on together!

Feeling a little bummed out today, I have only received one letter from "J" to date and one phone call, I still send a letter every other day, My husband seems to think his college Fraternity buddies have over ran him with letters and cards, Sd thing is I asked some poinent questions that answers would be kinda nice to know, But what can I say he is not mommas boy any more.... so I keep busy, knitting, and cooking and more knitting...trying to keep clam with the "No news is good news" thought, but sure would be nice to hear SOMETHING.
23 more days and I am looking forward to that, It will be my husband and I with our 7 year old son, William is really looking forward to seeing the "Sailboat" that his brother is working on.

Bathan6, I guess it's nice he has such a great support system, but that's no excuse to ignore his mom! The "sailboat" comment is adorable.

I am in the same boat...one letter, one call. No frat buddies to compete with...just think it's because he used my old address (forgot the house number) and the mail is being forwarded. But like you....counting the days does help..23 more, yes! Today was a little tougher I guess...maybe because I couldnt run to the mailbox with high hopes :) Soon, Bathan, soon!! :::Smile:::

I finally got my second letter! Though, I think it might be the 3rd and the 2nd is missing as it came directly to my current address. Anyways, it seems that after A school, my son is thinking of requesting a 24 month over seas duty station. Felt saddened at first, but then I thought...this is the Navy, no matter where he is he will be far away. We still have phones, email, letters, Skype and he still has leave each year. So I guess where he is stationed, is irrelevant! Takes me a while to catch on sometimes LOL He would like to live in another country, but realistically he will be on a carrier...though they will come to port from time to time. He really seems to be trying to "find" himself...he is also checking out different faiths. He is curious and open to exploration...he is already changing so much! He talked a lot more about his personal development than the details of Boot Camp...he wrote me as he was waiting "to get beat" as they had more IT. It's like old news to him now LOL 22 days and counting ladies!!

Glad you got another letter, Karina! We got another today, too. we seem to be In a once a week pattern, which is nice. This letter was to his Dad :) he says he'll be in San Antonio 20 weeks then can take leave! That's Christmas! He kept saying he'd be home for Christmas and I didn't believe him. Maybe I should have! That would be sweet.
He said they got got their second hair cuts--their high and tights. He thinks it accentuates his white hairs. Poor kid inherited the premature white hair from me :(
The SRs are also doing the countdown to graduation! The day he wrote they were at 28. It will be here before we know it! -

Ok Division 937-ites, you do realize that our young men and women will perform at the next two PIRs and then their own, right? You know what else that means? That they MIGHT be found in a PIR ceremony photo posted on https://www.facebook.com/NavyRecruitTrainingCommand

I peeked and found a Picture of J, maybe he was pulled because they were short a man? He looks so thin now. but still handsome
Otherwise, I gave birth to twins and didnt know it, and only had to raise and pay for one. HAHA

I've been reading about everyone's loved one's having A school for 4-12 weeks. My son's is 26 weeks. Did I miss something or did he just pick a job that requires so much training? I'll get to see him the weekend of graduation & then won't get to see him again, unless I can make another trip to the Great Lakes, until he gets back in January. That is if he doesn't go immediatly to his stationing place.

last I heard from him on this matter he was I believe still an E-1. I know he passed some test per his last letter & he was looking @ getting moved up but I haven't heard anything from him as of yet.
