Just want to connect with moms whose SR arrived July 17, 2012. Haven't heard from him yet, but I'm sure that is just a matter of time. Expecting form letter next week, then we'll have a better idea.

Jordan's mom- my son also when to college for a year. He will turn 21 while in BC. You are right though. This is so much harder than when he left for college. He was only 3 hours away and I could get ahold of him or go see him when I wanted.

I just heard from Jordan's recruiter and got his address.  Is anyone here on Ship 14 Division 7111?  I haven't seen a division number that long...I'm so confused.

i followed you wrote email to  my sons recruiter...he just wrote back..thanks  i now have email address

Jordan's mom...give me the info from the recruiter and I can help decipher...Just don't post your sons name. (Last names of Recruits/Sailors are not allowed on the N4M website as per the Community Guidelines and OPSEC.)That looks like a compartment number (the 7111).

Could you be sweeter?  he said ship 14 div 7111 he said something about a BB-39 to include?  USS arizona...that's all I have...can I give you the first letter of his last name to help?

No, thank you...don't need his name at all for the address. :-) The BB-39 is the Hull number for the actual Battleship USS Arizona. (The Ship name is usually not necessary...but if your recruits write home and ask that you include it...do so.) I don't know whay they include it except to say that the Navy is steeped in tradition (which is wonderful) and it must be to honor them.

Well, you have the Ship...but the Div is actually the most important. He has incomplete info...but maybe able to check again for you.

When my sons recrutier called I was given the Ship/Div but the rest of the address was incomplete and I did not know the site well enough to ask if there was somewhere Ic ould check...I waited for the Form Letter...11 days!

Thanks so much for your help...I called and he looked up again and told me ship 14 div 292.  I forgot to ask PIR date??  I have a letter to send...He told me to address it SA instead of SR because of my son's college transcript...is that correct?  I have seen no one being called SA??  and did you say no 4 digits after the zip?  I am trying to look up your info on mailing...thanks again!!!

The recruiter won't have the PIR date...we have to wait until RTC posts it OR you get your Form Letter...or I use my Spidey-Sense. LOL

It would be SR in Boot Camp...they are all recruits until PIR. If they went in at a higher rate or earned it during BC...they will where the marks on their sleeves to show it. It's great that he is already an E-2 though!

Yes, include the zip. Here is the generic address for ship 04 from the RTC Website:

Ship 4
3600 Ohio Street
Great Lakes, IL
60088-7103

Here is yours:

SR, Last name, First Name, MI

Ship 4 Division 292

3600 Ohio Street

Great Lakes, IL

60088-7103

On the Form letter it may have Recruit training Command in between the Ship/Div and the street...it is usually not necessary. If your recruit writes home and says to add it...do so. The same if they ask you to include the name of a Ship. Usually, if they ask you too...it's for a reason.

I wanted to say thanks to everyone for all the info.  I definitely will not send him a card I just bought.  I have not received the box or form letter either.  He is my only son, and I am very proud of him, but I do miss him terribly:)

Finally broke down and called the recruiter. They are going to get me his address. The recruiter was surprised he had parents!! I said, well he is older and pretty much on his own, but he still has parents. His dad is so angry. I find it very amusing.
WhooHoo! Got the box today (my husband called to tell me). Nothing but dirty clothes!!!lol. At least we know he's there.

Yaay! So glad to hear it. Still no box and no form letter. But I got her ship/div. Have I already told you that? haha! Ive been telling everyone!
