Welcome to the discussion group for divisions 037 & 038

These two divisions are brother divisions and will be training together from the beginning through BS21 their final test. Your SRs, soon to be SAILORS, are becoming friends, and some of them may be heading to A School together.

Get to know each other, your SRs are!

Please still use the Main Wall of the PIR Group to post questions, and concerns, we “veteran” moms don’t always get to into the discussion area as often as we would like.

Every single question that is asked is important
Every single concern is genuine
Every single member is important to us
We don't want to accidentally overlook any of them or you.

Hang in there!!!

FINALLY!!! I received his first letter today, he wrote it on the 9th.  He said that he was also sick, but is feeling better now.  He said the beds were not great it was cold (and we're from NY) but the food was awesome.  He is missing home and especially his "best friend", his 6 year old sister...:( and cant wait to see us.  But all in all he said he was doing fine..and told me to stop stalking our mail lady :)  I think I can now breathe felt like I was holding my breath this entire 3 weeks so far.

I'm hoping you get your letter Lauren...I was so excited I could barely open the envelope!!  As of the 9th,he had only received 2 of my letters...and he didnt include anything about Christmas..

He sounded really good in his letter...he said that they are all working on "team work" and that they do yell alot but so far stayed under the radar :)  He also said that they were up late and up early, which he expected.  I'm so glad that he was prepared for this all and it wasnt a shock, and that basically his only complaint is..that the bed wasnt too comfortable...miss him so much, and can not wait til Dec 21st.  I'm hoping he gets the rest of my letters soon, so he can start answering more of my questions hehehe

Ok...think I am getting the hang of this...I am Austin's Mom and as I mentioned he arrived at BC on Oct 24th. No letter yet, but I did check his bank account and he did get a deposit on the 15th
I haven't even tried to make reservations somewhere yet. Anyone have suggestions...seeing alot of different places. I will be driving from Maryland. Bringing his sister and Grandmother. We lost my Dad in April and Austin joined after that event so it is important to my Mom to be there to represent.
Thank you for this site....so great to be able to connect with others and share the experience, the tips and the waiting.

My son is in Ship 11 Div 32 and we will be driving to Great Lakes from Maryland. We live in Millersville, Maryland (around Severna Park/Glen Burnie) and we're staying at the Springhill Suites - Waukegan, Illinois. It's about 5.6 milles from RTC, has a free hot breakfast, and a shuttle to RTC. The Navy Graduation Rate is $89/night for a room with 2 queen beds & a queen sleep sofa, microwave & frig. The room is a little larger than a normal hotel room. It will be me, my husband, other son, and my SR's best friend - so it should work even with 4 adults.  Where in Maryland will you be drive from?

We live by Frederick, Maryland. I will look into the Springhill Suites- thank you. We are planning on leaving on Dec 19th to give ourselves time and in case weather doesn't cooperate.
Yipppeeeee letter day :).... Sounds really good, it seems, loves his uniforms, passed his swim test and has no cavities (we had his wisdom teeth pulled before he left) ...He's made lots of friends, he said everyone is friendly. He said the div has gone from 89 to 76! Yikes!!! . Lots of ironing, marching and they have to shave everyday whether they need to or not (mine does not!!)... He even likes the food!!! He even got picked to carry a flag during PIR...so he'll be easy to spot!!! I went from the verge of tears to doing the happy dance with one letter!!! I hope you all got yours too!!!
Finally got our 1st real letter today, think I scared to mailman with my excitement. Our son said the first week or two were terrible but they are getting used to the Navy life. He said they didn't get anytime to write but he was able to give us a breakdown of life in basic training. I was so happy to see his letter and can't wait until Dec.
Finally!! Got the first real letter today......So good to hear from him....complained he wasn't getting enough mail. Will solve that problem! Likes his uniform and says they are keeping busy. Doing good and was made a section leader. I am very proud.

YAYYYYYYY!!!!! Got my letter and I have not stop crying yet. I miss him so much and it feels even better to hear that hemisses me just as much! He is a Leader in his Division, he said his position is called "STARBOARD" This was such a joy! Good to see that everyone else has heard from theor SR as well. 35 More Days!!! Ship 11 Div 037 whhhoooooo!

We received our letter today also, I haven't stopped crying either. My husband keeps asking me if I'm OK and I just tell him they are happy tears. He said the food was better than he expected and is adjusting to the a navy life. Said there have been a few injuries in the group but their division is doing good. Dec. 21 can't come fast enough.

Is your SR in division 037? If we called these tears of joy now, what will they be called at graduation? Lol!
