Recruiter is encouraging us to not mention adhd.  Stopped taking medication two and a half yrs ago.  Have  a letter from her doctor clearing her to join Navy and no longer ADHD.  Leary to sign papers where it tells us we can be fined for not revealing all. Why would recruiter do this?  Want it bad, but scarey to lie.

I don't know if you want to report this, but here is the place to report it:

Your daughter should disclose the information and have everything checked out and get the clearance she needs.  It will be her future that is affected if it later comes out that she did not disclose this.  There are several discussions on here about ADHD and also recruiters advising not to disclose.  Put ADHD in the search box.

DO NOT LIE!  GET A WAIVER. IF YOU LIED AND THEY FIND OUT (AND IT WILL COME OUT) SHE'LL BE SEND HOME.

I agree! Do NOT NOT NOT lie! It will result in your recruit being kicked out of the Navy and NOT being able to enlist again.

If your child has not been on ADHD medication for so long (I believe a year) then an ADHD diagnosis will NOT prevent them from being able to enlist. I know this for a fact, because my son is ADHD, is not on medications, and the Navy is fully aware of it (in fact, it was Navy Docs who treated him for it growing up). It was in his paperwork and he was fine. It just meant a bit more work on the part of the recruiter. But if you lie, it will be found out - especially if they ever have any sort of job that requires a clearance. It is a BIG deal to the Navy (about way more than ADHD, but also honor and integrity - BIG things in the Navy) if you lie.

Please pleas please report the recruiter for telling you to lie. If you have any questions about how to report them, let me know. This is a huge deal for you, and an even bigger deal for the recruiter, for them to tell you to di this.
Sorry - just saw you had the address for how to report them already. As far as continuing the enlistment process while thus recruiter is being dealt with, I asked my husband and he suggested you ask to meet privately with the Recruiter in Charge, then explain to him or her what had happened, that you had reported them, and would like a new recruiter. If it's the RINC who is doing this, then call the MEPS office and ask to speak to their legal office.

This way, the illegal activities of the recruiter (and yes it is illegal to lie on a military application, or to ask or encourage someone to) can be dealt with but it won't hurt your daughters enlistment process. (And no, it won't follow your daughter beyond DEP that her recruiter got reported.)
