Welcome to the Division Discussion for divisions 071 and 072.
These two divisions are brother divisions and will be training together from the beginning through BS21 their final test. Your SRs, soon to be SAILORS, are becoming friends, and some of them may be heading to A School together.
Get to know each other, your SRs are!
Please still use the Main Wall of the PIR Group to post questions, and concerns, we “veteran” moms don’t always get to into the discussion area as often as we would like.
Every single question that is asked is important Every single concern is genuine Every single member is important to us We don't want to accidentally overlook any of them or you.
Hang in there!!!

Oh - that is really good to know. I just keep waiting on the mail. Kathy
Still not letter on our end. Hoping maybe today. Well feeling accomplished. Plan reservations complete. Flying into Milwaukie and then reservation at the Navy Lodge. RSVP to Sarges Meet and Greet. Now all we need is to coordinate a car. Having a major anxiety attack here as I purchased tickets for 3 of us - feeling like I was some how jinxing things and what if for some reason he did not make it to the end.... I know that is silly.... but wondering if I was coordinating things too early.... We have yet to get a letter from him and everything is all set. What if he is not doing well for some reason or another...... Gut bothering me. I guess making the reservations some how made it all very real. Kathy
Trying to think positive here. Still no letter in today's mail. I keep telling myself that no news is good news. He must be doing fine. Off to work tomorrow and that will keep me distracted. Kathy
I'm pretty sure we all will receive letters this week. Wed for the ones who live close to Great Lakes and Thursday for the rest of us. I write him everyday. I think thats all we can do for now. I'm hoping for a phone call this week as well. I haven't booked plane tickets yet. I'm waiting for that phone call to hear how he's doing. I'm not going to buy refundable tickets. I have 4 to buy. I will pay for insurance. I believe I will have to pay like a 50 dollar fee to change the date if need be and thats still way cheaper than refundable tickets. Heads up girls. It's going to get easier. Write them every day.
I'm glad I'm not the only one thinking these thoughts, sometimes I feel guilty but it is my cautious side that kicks in. I decided to rent a "luxury" car and drive up from Springfield, MO since it is only an 8 hour drive so his older brother and sister could ride up also. We would try and accomodate you guys with our vehicle if nothing else for the first evening in case you need a ride from the airport. If there is anything we can do to help it would be our pleasure.
Hi all! My son was ASMO'd and put in division 072. I don't know why, I missed his call. He did have quite a few days SIQ, so that may have caused it, I really don't know. The divisions get to write on Sunday and mail on Monday so usually people start getting thier letters on Wed, most on Thursdays, so keep stalking your mail man you'll get a letter soon. Also know that mail to them is even slower, it takes about 7 - 8 days for them to get letters from us.
Also there is a chance for phone calls home at the end of training week two - which would be the end of this week, begining of next week. So keep those phones handy, even in the bathroom or when you go out to check the mail.
Someone from my facebook group received a letter today! She lives about 45mins from great lakes. So the rest of us should be getting letters any day now!
No mail here in Springfield, MO, I was so hyped when there was a stack of letters in the mail box but they were all bills, arghh.
ASMO - Assignment Memorandum - to be sent back in recruit training. Sometimes they get sent back for too many sick days or not completing specific tasks. It means they will graduate on a different date, usually a week or two later. Hope this helps.
