Hello,
I like to know if the navy for moms has a graduation funds available for families that are not able to go due to financial problems. I know that the Marines have it and they buy plane tickets for the families that are not able to attend graduation due to financial problems.

I wondered this same thing. I asked my SR (now a sailor!) if there was anyone in his division who didn't have family coming to PIR because I wanted to either contribute toward their transportation or invite the SRs to go out to eat with us after graduation. He said he didn't know of anyone who would be alone on that day. If NavyforMoms starts a fund, I'll donate.
I really wish that they would start something like this. My daughter will graduate on Feb 8th and I don't know how I will get there. If you know anything that would help me let me know --- PLEASE
The programs in place within other military branches were set up by individuals, who then set up a not-for-profit organization, and are not sponsored by the military branch itself. (I know of the Marine Graduation Foundation http://usmcgrad.org/. the USCG Family Assistance Fund https://www.facebook.com/UscgGraduationFund/info and Coast Guard Mom In Need Fund https://www.facebook.com/ourmominneed.) There is a need for something like this, but there would need to be someone willing to step forward to set up the foundation/organization and conduct fund-raising activities. There would also have to be a screening process ...... Anyway, it won't happen overnight and it won't happen unless someone steps forward to do it.
Saving Money PIR Weekend (clickable link) may have some ideas for you.
My daughter is graduating and I will not be able to afford to go. My daughter is heart broken.
Check in the PIR group to see if there is anyone who will be driving from/through your area that you can share a ride with and/or if there is anyone willing to share a hotel room and split the costs. Some recruits have sent money, but it is getting a little late for that since PIR is Friday.
No, the Navy does not, nor does Navy for Moms, have anything such as the Marine Graduation Foundation, a non-profit organization that is not sponsored by the Marine Corps (See http://usmcgrad.org/).
The Navy doesn't have anything like that. PIR is on the family's if they want to go, that would be a nonprofit group that would have to start something like that. Navy for Moms nor the Navy are nonprofit
When is PIR for your son? How far will you have to travel?
I am in the same boat.. where are you coming from? I was looking for Austin Moms who might be driving to carpool.. but theyre flying..
I to was wondering about the fund but now I see that there is not one. My oldest son graduates in November as well. We have had a hard year. And with 4 more boys at home we are barely swimming. We are trying to get up there, but sadly I don't think it is going to happen! But i'm still praying!
