My son is in Ship 02 DIV 916. Anyone else out there?

My Son is also in this Ship/Div. We've received his box and form letter, but no actual letter yet. We're sure he's super busy in this division and we couldn't be more proud of him. We're hoping for a letter or a phone call this week. He said during that short phone call home when he arrived that he'd be able to call in 3 weeks, so maybe this week... We all keep sending him letters and we will certainly keep them coming for him. We've also sent him stamps and a phone card too, just in case he needed them. We're all so eager to know how he's doing, but I know in my heart he's doing really well.
I've received 2 letters and it was 3600. I hope that's right because I keep sending to that one :D
Hello everyone. The return address on the letters written after the form letter is different address than the initial form letter. However, I continue to use the address from the form letter and he gets my letters just fine. My suggestion...keep using the
SHIP 02 DIV 916
3600 OHIO STREET
if it applies to your recruit and advised on the form letter.
Be Blessed!
Hi Everyone! @hemi-navy my son is also in DIV916 he wrote and told me to expect a call this past Sunday. I am getting a little worried because others are getting calls. Another thing he told me they are getting their wisdom teeth pulled this week hopefully he will be ok. That is the part of letting go you just don't get used to---not being there when they are in pain and/or sick. Anyway, in his letter he didn't sound worried so that helps. Just needed to vent on that..my family and friends kinda blow me off and tell me to let him go. It's a different relationship when you have an only child. Just needed to get that off my chest. Thankful and grateful for this site
My son is in the same division and I haven't received a call. I haven't received his form letter yet but have gotten 2 personal letters from him. In his last letter he said they were just starting actual training since he's been in processing for 2 weeks. He said the food is great and he now eats like someone is going to try and take his food away. Really funny for a kid who was always the last one done eating. You're not alone stressing...but each letter I'm getting seems to help! This site is amazing, makes you realize that most of us are experiencing the same emotions.
Ronette31- Thank you. I really appreciate that and I will keep you informed as the letters come. Yeah, I get that too with the college thing.
Hemi-navy- you are right we are almost halfway there.
Thanks for the words of encouragement.
I heard about the wisdom teeth just as he arrived there, so I kind of knew that was coming. No news is definitely good news in the Navy, I spent 8 years active duty in the 90's. Another thing to remember is how fast this has gone already, they're almost half way done now. When I was in bootcamp, those who had positions of authority or were on the drill team had virtually no time to write and got even fewer phone calls. Sending letters to them is so very important because its so motivating to receive mail everyday. It helps you escape bootcamp for a moment, like Sundays when you get to go to church services. It's a nice escape.
This really is a nice website with lots of good info. And I'm thankful to those who created it. If any of you can't attend PIR you can get a DVD of the graduation through the NEX. The information is on the official Navy Bootcamp website. My friend's son is graduating in a week or so and she can't attend, so that's when I found that info. Also, since our recruits are in the honor guard, we may be able to get an early glimpse of them on the RTC facebook page. They post random pictures of the recruits during training and they post graduation pics. The honor guard performs at the graduations and they should be ready to start their performances in a couple of weeks or so. Be watching! I know I am!!
You bet! I always try to look at the positive in any situation, a positive attitude helps when things get tough. I know these are our kids or husbands, wives, brothers, sisters, etc, they're people we love. The best thing we can do for them is send them supportive letters, encouraging them to be the best they can be, tell them how proud you are and show them our strength in their absence so they can be strong where they're needed and not be distracted by worry. Let them know "we got this" at home, the less they worry, the more they can focus on the task at hand. Let them know that often. Its really good practice for when deployment comes!
Bretts_Mom- Its important that you get the form letter if you're planning on attending graduation because it has a code in there for your parking pass, plus it has the access list of who he designated can come. If you're unable to attend graduation then its probably not a big deal if you don't have the form. If you are, make sure and ask him for another form letter the next time you write him or when he calls. We should receive calls this week! Fingers crossed!
Also, I received 2 letters from Jeff yesterday and they were written 4 days apart. They should come more regularly now that they have their mail PO. Jeff is doing great, he's making lots of friends and he also loves the food!
Thank you hemi-nay, I have asked and will continue to ask him until I get it :D I am planning to attend his graduation and have already booked the Navy Lodge. I haven't received a call yet this week but hope too!!
Hi Sunshine66, I finally got my form letter yesterday! It was post dated for 1/16. I also just got a phone call from him too!! Brett said there is a new rule that they will be able to call home every Sunday and he will get a second call tomorrow because he didn't get one last week. He sounded okay, sick, but hanging in there. Amazing how much it helps just to hear his voice! So be prepared everyone, we should be hearing from them regularly now :D
