Choose your Username. For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed. Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.
**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.
**UPDATE 7/29/2021** You now must be fully vaccinated in order to attend PIR:
In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

Please note! Changes to this guide happened in October 2017. Tickets are now issued for all guests, and all guests must have a ticket to enter base. A separate parking pass is no longer needed to drive on to base for parking.

my son is also on the Mississippi this is my sons second boat he was originally on the Seawolf it is going on 13 years he has been in.

it is a pretty exciting time for them. at some point you will get his e-mail address and you can keep in touch that way or if they are in port he may call. They also receive mail,it is especially nice for them during the holidays to receive packages nothing to big tho not much room.. nice talking to you any questions hope I can answer them.

Hi subdad! My son is on the Mississippi, LT JG as well! Nice to know another parent, although I haven't been on N4M much lately. They are a great bunch of men who get to do life together for a while!!!

Jordosmom, Josh just met the officers yesterday and said they were all really great. He is really excited to get underway and start to qualify. I'm new to all this , so would appreciate any info or advice that might help me figure things out. I guess we've managed to raise a couple of pretty extraordinary young men.

subdad, Josh is correct. It is a great boat, with some amazing men on it! Have you viewed any of the you tube videos regarding the boat? There are some good ones out there which were filmed before, during, and after the commissioning. My personal favorite is Dolphin Escort USS Mississippi.

I know I am late on this post but before my son went on his first cruise I got the book "NUB" true story of a new guy on a sub. Gave me some insight and understanding of the process so when my son was qualifying I knew what he was going through and when he got his "fish" I knew what that entailed.

My Sailor Boy is serving on the USS Buffalo, "The Buffy". Been there almost 2 years now.
