I want to book my room for PIR but I am not sure how many nights I should book it for.  I have heard Sailors going straight to their A school right after PIR and others having a few days to spend with loved ones before departing for A school.

What will your SR's rating (job/specialty) be? That will help to determine how long you need to stay. If he is staying at GL for "A" School, plan to leave late Sunday or Monday, but if he flies out to "A" School, then you should plan to leave late Saturday or on Sunday. (See PIR Day and Liberty During PIR Weekend and http://www.bootcamp.navy.mil/pdfs/FamilyGuide_v14Mar2013.pdf.)

CT's who go to Pensacola have "A" School at the Center for Information Dominance (CID) Corry Station. Join Sailors In Pensacola, FL For A School....Corry Station too!! and Cryptology ~ CTI ~ CTM ~ CTN ~ CTR ~ CTT ~ Corry Station Pensacola .... Do you know if his contract is for Cryptologic Technician - Maintenance (CTM), Cryptologic Technician Networks (CTN), or Cryptologic Technician - Collection (CTR)? Here are the Rating Information Cards:

CTM https://www.cool.navy.mil/enlisted/rating_info_cards/ctm.pdf

CTN https://www.cool.navy.mil/enlisted/rating_info_cards/ctn.pdf

CTR https://www.cool.navy.mil/enlisted/rating_info_cards/ctr.pdf

Since he will fly out, plan to arrive the day before PIR and to leave late Saturday or on Sunday.

Then you will also want to join CTN.

Thank you for  the information.  He went in as undesignated so I am not too sure if this has changed or not since I have not heard from him yet. Is that normal to go in as  undesignated?

He is still undesignated.  Some choose the PACT program because they aren't sure what they want or they are able to go in sooner by going with PACT (undesignated) than if they choose a particular rating. Professional Apprenticeship Career Tracks (PACT) Program will give you the information you need. Those in S-PACT and E-PACT stay at GL for training (it's not "A" School for them) and those in A-PACT fly out. Since you didn't say undesignated Airman, I would think that he will stay in GL, so plan to stay until late Sunday or on Monday if you can.

Thank you so very much...again!!!  :)

You are very welcome.

Hello lemonelephant, I got the form lettler from my SR yesterday, my son is nuke do you think he will have time to spend with us after PIR, or will he be leaving right after graduation? also what does 900 Division means? he is Division 931. Thank you so much for all your valuable information it has made this past 11 days easier. God Bless You

Since he is in a 900 Division, he may have some things to take care of following PIR, which can take 15-60 minutes depending on what he has to d, but as soon as those duties are finished, he will have Liberty until that evening sometime (unless he has watch during that time) and then he will most likely fly out the next day. See 800 and 900 Divisions and PIR Day and Liberty During PIR Weekend. Join PIR 06/14/2013 TG 31; there will later be a discussio within that group for Division 931.  Join Nuke School Charleston, NUKE moms, and/or Loved Ones in the Nuke Program!
