Well here we go, onto a BIG adventure. We are doing the USS Nimitz, this is an Aircraft Carrier. I have been working with the CMC the past couple weeks and we have worked the bugs out and now we are ready to go. This project will take 3-4 months to complete so there is no rush or stress on us to get it all down fast.
This ship will be done by departments, ALL boxes for that department have a contact which I will give you to ship with when needed. As the number come in and the PC's go out you will see the list change and the shipped will be removed to make room for new ones.
Please make sure that you stick to the count and which department you are listed for so that everyone get at pc. ALL boxed MUST have the HAE sticker on them by the address label, You must email ME at mepeller@bellsouth.net or Sue to get the addresses.
week 1- 5/25- 5/30 will start the shipping. We will try and ship every week or every 2 weeks.
Lyn Love andI will be doing all the command, and POC pillowcases and helping with the ship numbers

And another one:
Ginnie C at Heads at Ease,
Today I woke up, crawled out of my rack put my uniform on and went to my shop. As soon as I walked in I could tell that the spirits were lifted, because today we got supplies –which means Mail! I walked in and around the corner and I see small patterns of different colored cloth sitting on the work benches. Everybody proceeded to tell me to pick a pillowcase, that we had gotten them from Mothers that had taken the time out of their day to make us a place to rest our head. Your pillow case will be a very nice alternative to the one I have now. Thank you so much, I got to see many people smile –including my best friend- that don’t normally have that grin spread across their face.
With love and thanks,
V/R

We are nearing the end of this grand adventure! Hard to believe. here's another thank you note:
Good evening Ms. Bayless,
I would like to take the opportunity so send a heartfelt THANKS to you and
all involved in sending out pillow cases for our service members here onboard
USS Nimitz. Most of our personnel here on board have left someone behind and a
lot of them this is a first time experience having to leave away from home. It
is a great feeling to know that there are people like you that still
appreciate the things that these man and women do to serve their country. It
is actions like yours that makes our days away from home that much better.
Every single one of our sailors had a smile on their face when they received
your gift. Thank you for your support!!!

Maryellen, do you need more fabric? I will be going to the city later this week and I have coupons for the fabric store!
My son emailed me to say he got a pillowcase! He is AMAZED of the hard work a dedication put into this project! He wanted me to say thank you!
Dawn's son is in the Engr dept.
here's another note. We have received so many and I am behind in posting them:
here's the note:
Dear Orchard Mesa Baptist Church,
I want to thank you for the pillow case you sent to me and to my other shipmates! It’s a really good feeling to know people are caring and looking out for us back at home. It helps keep morale positive for us when we’re feeling down and missing family. It’s people like you who get us through the duties which we are assigned. My name is Andrew ,19 years old from Boston, MA. Thank you for your kind gestures once again so I can push forward and see my loved ones soon.
Very Respectively,
FA Lxxxx
a new wave is coming in!
Ray, Sue and the entire Heads at Ease crew,
From myself and all the guys in Reactor Department onboard the USS Nimitz, we thank you for all you have done. It was the talking point over the last couple weeks. Every mail call I have been getting boxes and boxes of pillowcases. People were asking if I would stop getting all the mail so they could get some as well, lol.. Anyway I really appreciate the pillowcases and I know a lot of the guys/gals around here thank you for the extra goodies in the boxes as well. I really loved the customized pillowcase that was made for me. Its going on the throw pillow for my couch, to be talked about by all friends and family. I don’t have much time but I do want to spend a couple seconds to let you know that we really appreciate the time and effort that it took to make all those.. THANK YOU AGAIN…

Dana, I will follow up on this. your same last night I assume?
I wrote a generic email to our POC asking about this. here's what he sent back this morning. And my question is, do you want me to give the name? Your call. It is not my goal to create waves, except to mail pcs and then I like waves.
Sue,
I can tell you that 100% every person that was in the department on that day was given the opportunity and the info was put out multiple times, if you give me the name I have a few more that are stored in my office. I can get them one... there have been a few new people show up and of course as I am sure you know, some people just don’t pay attention to whats going on... please give me a name so I can assist. No waves...

here's the link. of course, it was the part where I was choked up. but that's okay.
someone just commented to me about me being choked up, so here is the "rest of the story" as Paul Harvey used to say:
thanks for your kind words. I can't help it. He asked me "why I do it". WELL, I always want to say "how much time have you got?"
